My P4M 1.8 (SL6FH) runs perfectly cool (20° above ambiant temperature with Seti running) with passive cooling (12*166=2GHz @1.1v)

P4C for a good balance between efficency and power.
P4M for very low power consumption.

HDDs are about 10w !
Without 8800GTS, you just need about 100-150W

It's not said, but I suppose they measured power consumption on the wall, so the PSU had to deliver around 200W on burn...

620W is just overkill !

In my opinion human rights are also a privilege, that can be revoked, if you don't respect the rights of other people. So why do you call them rights ? Admit you just don't want human rights, your opinion will get much clearer ! But even without studies, it's perfectly logical. No it's not ! Say yo...

12x multiplier was indeed a problem as chipset couldn't reach "high fsb", and "High speed" DDR modules were unaffordable. Today there are tons of fsb800 capable mobos and cheap PC3200. The low multiplier is now a good thing for us, as it's better to get performance by high memory speed than high cpu...

My SL6FH (1.8GHz) currently runs 2.1Ghz@1.1v With SETI@home burn, it's 20°C above ambient, passively cooled. Most of mobos will accept the P4M, at rather different vCore though...

But, there are some incompatibilities. Under certain circumstances (if both IDE were used in my case), CF fail to boot (at differrent stages depending on the CF). If you can make a test with a spare CF, note the brand of the chips (Toshiba or Samsung), and get a similar chip-branded CF. Thanks Loz,...
