quiet/short nVidia GTX 670?

Does such a creature exist?

The Asus cooler design seems best for noise, but it's 1/2" too long for my Fractal Design Mini case because of the cooler :-P

Closest thing I've dug up is this:

Thanks for the size corrections.

Also found another possibility...the Prolimatech Samuel 17:

People have also gotten this into a GD05 w/ the DVD mount in place.

Re: more like an hour

The K is smaller than the BS - that's why I went with it, so I could get low-latency RAM with heatspreaders. If the BS won't interfere with your memory, it's better than the K. Why did you order it? Posted the spec pages of the K vs. the BS above. Unless I misread it, it looks like the K is bigger ...

Doh...that was a research fail...I didn't know it worked on the GD05 case...thought the Big Shuriken was the biggest that would fit.

Re: stock 2500K CPU cooler hitting 58C at idle in GD05 case

@ntasvlas: no reason to hate backplates. Just didn't want to go through ripping everything out and reinstalling again :) Abula: the Thermalright unfortunately is too wide. I've got two HDD and a DVD drive in this and the widest thing that can fit is a Big Shuriken which hits memory when fully loaded...

to tear it apart again. Took about that long when I tried getting an Antex 620 water cooler in (doesn't fit BTW...it'd have to be mounted externally)-: I had to abort and install the stock cooler instead. The Scythe SCKZT-1000 Kozuti looks similar to the Big Shuriken, which means it'll hit the memor...

stock 2500K CPU cooler hitting 58C at idle in GD05 case

ok, this is driving me up the wall. I'm guessing I've got a defective stock cooler because at system startup, the BIOS reports 50C and then it goes to 58C after a few minutes. At one point, I did get it down to 29C by turning the screws on the heatsink counterclockwise and then pushing it in while t...

the review should have compared against the Scythe Big Shuri

It mentions the Kuhler is useful is small HTPC cases where clearance is limited, then mentions the GD05 which needs the Big Shuriken and the table doesn't include test results for the Big Shuriken :-P

don't think the Thermaltake Blue Orb II fits AM2 sockets

If you look at the mounting mechanism, it's extremely similar to what Zalman does w/ their 7000/7700. It's a new mounting plate and screws that go into it. This only works for Socket 939 (also confirmed on Thermaltake's web site which doesn't mention AM2)...

quietest SFF PC AM2 socket CPU cooler?

With Socket 939, it was a no-brainer with the Zalman CNPS7000. It just fit into an X-QPack or Microfly case.. Any obvious choices for AM2 mATX motherboards yet? Most of the AM2 coolers seem to be the giant tower variety and SPCR didn't exactly give a glowing review to the Zalman CNPS8000 which I tho...

The APC SmartUPS is silent until it uses the battery or when it roughly hits 90% of its power capacity, then a fan turns on that is a bit loud. Some older systems still monitor it. I was freaked out when I had to replace a PSU in an older system and it had that bogus reading for -5V as well (the BIOS complained).
