I'm not following, isn't Yonah = Core Duo, and Merom = Core 2 Duo?

Both boards are labelled as Core 2 Duo compatible, and WikiPedia lists Merom as a drop in replacement for Yonah, requireing at most a bios upgrade.

Spot the difference: AOpen i945GTt-VFA vs i945GMt-FA

Can anyone spot what the functional difference is between these two boards:

http://global.aopen.com.tw/Products/mb/i945GTt-VFA.htm vs http://global.aopen.com.tw/Products/mb/i945GMt-FA.htm

I've been staring at the specs but can't see it (apart from the difference in chipset).

Woot!

Found a PCIe x1 TV/Radio card that appears to be available through retail channels: http://www.vistaview.tv/index.php?optio ... &Itemid=33

There are plenty of USB tuners though, so you should be able to have two tuners without too much trouble (or a dual-tuner card in the first place) Two? I suspect that a TV tuner connected through USB causes too much load on the CPU for my liking, and I don't want another loose box dangling off the ...

The AOpen board is almost the perfect board for me. First I thought that I wouldn't be able to get a case for it that I would like, but after a bit of Googling I found the Nexus Psile which I like a lot. Having looked at that case I'm pretty certain that with a bit of ceative DYI'ing I could suspend...

Options for MoDT system?

What are my options for buying or building a Mobile On DeskTop (MoDT) computer system like this: Role ---- Computer is to be placed out of sight, under a desk or similar. Capable of being expanded for strong media input features (TV, Teletext, Radio, Video), but its primary role will be running SOHO...

Some more info for those interested in this PC: according to this article at Tom's Hardware: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/2006/08/22/amd_dual_core_laptops_have_arrived_uk/page2.html , it appears that HP didn't chose the processor speed & memory combo wisely. The s7600e has a 2000 Mhz processor with...

mini itx, am2, vga out, coax spdif out, firewire, only 10/100 lan though.. and most importantly, a PCI slot and not a pci-e 16x slot. The board is specific to this PC, the fact that it only has a standard PCI slot shouldn't matter. You wouldn't be able to use a powerful 3D graphics card in it due t...

I also seriously considered on - I wanted to build a low-power, low-noise HTPC. Couldn't find a damn spec sheet that said whether it had S-Video out or not! (or DVI) Wasn't going to order it without that info. Went to Fry's, and I *THINK* it does - the ones they had in stock (AMD & Intel) had S-Vid...

I've been eying up the old model of this PC equipped with a single core AMD Turion 64 and DDR1 memory which is currently offered by a local chain store. As documented on http://www.ursulin.net/ that model has HP firmware issues which cause the fan to be constantly on, making it less quiet than it co...

Do all modern 2.5" drives have a head load/unload mecha

I replaced a 6 year old 2.5" Hitachi drive with a Seagate Momentus single platter 20G drive. Although the bearing noise is much reduced, the "Clikety click" noise from Seagate's head load/unload mechanism is very irritating. The 10 second load/unload cycle also causes the Seagate to be slower for th...

Shuttle SD11G5 onboard video limited to 1280x1024?

The PDF manual I downloaded for the Shuttle SD11G5 says that the onboard video is limited to max 1280x1024. I'm interested in using a Dell 2005FPW widescreen monitor connected via DVI with a 1680x1050 resolution on it. Anyone know if that would work with the onboard video? Alternatively, any recomme...
