I was planning on installing my Aerocool VM-101 on the card first thing before trying the 3850, but decided to listen to the stock cooling. To my surprise, it really is quiet. My system sounds the same. I tried running RTHDRIBL fullscreen and the fan speed does not seem to change. This is great new...

The top and bootom fans are reversed, nothing I can do the Scythe can only be used that way otherwise the blades hit the VGA heatsink, shame isn't it, all the other fans don't offer the same Noise/Airflow, except the Nexus but it cannot be used horizontally as it generates a clicking noise.. As much as my 1950 irritates me, the 3850 with this power envelope doesn't seem like a worthy replacement. And if it's indeed around 100W, then it's going to have pretty bad performance-per-watt - the 1950 is 65W max. Thanks for your reply, I didn't realise the 1950 was such a low-power card. Does ...

I am really interested in this card. I'd like to buy one, if I can get my hands on an Asus A8R32 motherboard (so I can upgrade to PCIe). Would have been nice to see some photos of the system fully built (since you had to build it to test it!) but nice review anyway.

For small cases, Antec should supply modular power supplies. Actually they should just make them standard across the board!

The last step is optional but highly recommended: A separate aluminum plate provides additional cooling for any RAM chips on the back side of the card. It also draws some heat through the PCB, so it is useful even on cards without rear-mounted RAM chips. At the bottom of page 2 devon recommends I d...

For those with ASUS motherboards, do you have QFan enabled in the BIOS? It will turn off the CPU fan if it is below a threshold (which on my motherboard, K8V Deluxe, you cannot change) and slowly ramp it beyond that.

Cheers,

I have only painted plastic parts, but I suppose painting the case could be done. But the results are not likely to be a glossy smooth finish that existed on the case before you painted it. I am not sure if a black P150 would look all that great anyway, since the front bezel is unpainted aluminum w...

You said you removed the RAM thermal pads on the NV 5.3, did you use any thermal paste to apply them to the chips or just firmly affixed them? Excuse me for being a newbie, but I'm keen to mod my Aopen 6800 GT (it's so noisy!).
