Re: Haswell i3 4330 Streacom HTPC

Yeah, I've done that. Heat build up isn't an issue. There's a 1" gap all the way around the rear of the cabinet before it meets the cabinets behind it and it's completely open. Here's a late night pic, maybe you'll see from that: http://www.pbase.com/deksawyer/image/153171134/large.jpg There's also ...

Re: Haswell i3 4330 Streacom HTPC

Case arrived this afternoon and the good news is the CPU cooler fits! Case is a Streacom FC7 Evo and was bought from ebay for £39 and you might notice, it doesn't have any front usb ports. I prefer the cleaner look, but as it's going to be in a cupboard it's no big deal. Case is nice and it went tog...

Re: Haswell i3 4330 Streacom HTPC

I couldn't resist last night when the wife went to bed - placed the board on a box and plugged it all in. http://www.pbase.com/deksawyer/image/152405584/original.jpg Installed openelec, which was a bit of a disaster - no audio at first. Managed to sort that somehow then it would freeze when I select...

Re: Haswell i3 4330 Streacom HTPC

Core components added to the motherboard. This is my first ITX system - it's tiny!! As you can see from the pics, I had a little helper (who kept trying to eat the fan cable). ISSUES. I had to remove some of the foam on the Big Shuriken backplate as it was going to interfere with some components. Sh...

Haswell i3 4330 Streacom HTPC

Impatience has gotten the better of me waiting on some Thin ITX boards, so I've just ordered this lot: I built this recently, to replace my skt775 Intel HTPC. Was going to go fanless, but at the time, there was no thin ITX 1150 boards available (there are a few now). Here's what I ended up with and ...

WHS case transplant - Lian Li V350

Well the time has come for a change of WHS case as I'm running out of HDD space and space for the HDD's. I'd been using an Aspire X-Qpack for years, originally as a server running XP but for the last year or more with WHS. I had to stick to a similar form factor due to where the case would be placed...

Well, it turns out neither would fit. The AC was too tall and I couldn't find the bolts for the TR mounting bracket. Doh!! I had no choice but to stick with the AMD heatpipe cooler. CPU is an Opteron 144 (1.8Ghz) and the AC fan spins fast enough to cool it and slow enough not to be a nuisance. I've ...

WHS case transplant - which of these 2 coolers....???

Hi guys I'm rebuilding my WHS box very soon with a Lian Li P-v350 replacing an ageing A plus case of a similar size. My question is, would I be better using an Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 Pro to use a front to back airflow route or use a Thermalright XP-120 and quiet fan to utilise an airflow route th...

Desktop boards for Socket M - anything still on the market?

I have a T2080 which, if poss., I'd like to use in a low power WHS set up but I don't have a clue if there are still boards available for this. It's Skt.M I believe....

ITX or uATX, it doesn't matter.

Anyone able to help?

cheers

The fans click when at full speed, but are very quiet when undervolted.

I never tried the stock fans - I might give them a go if I can be bothered!

Intel T2080 - What socket?

I have an Intel T2080 lying here but I've no idea what socket fitment this is.

The whole socket M/socket P thing is a bit confusing for me......or is it neither of these?

Can anyone shed some light?

And are there any low power desktop boards it'll fit in..?

thanks

Omaura TF8 HTPC build

I've been living with the Omaura case for about a month now and all is well, apart from the OLED software, which leaves a lot to be desired and actually breaks trading standard laws as far as I'm concerned, since it doesn't even come close in real life compared to how it's advertised, but that's ano...

My Omaura TF8 still hasn't arrived, so I've no idea how much room I have to play with, with regards to CPU cooling. However, I seen this on Morley Digital but I don't know what cooler it is. Here's the link to the pic - it's the case on the right; http://www.morleydigital.com/wp-content/uploads/2008...

Asus A8N32 Deluxe users - can you help..??

Just installed MCE on this board but can't seem to get it to come out of S3 standby using the MCE 2005 USB remote receiver.

It's actually stumped me because there's nothing in the bios (1405) to enable this feature.

Any words of wisdom??

I have the Elan Vital Greenerger, which is a pre-cursor to the Nesteq PSU's (Elan went bust and Nesteq bought them out, or something like that) and it's silent most of, if not all the time. I use it in my HTPC in SSM mode and I've never heard the fan kick in at all. It's a highly recommended PSU.......

Yes, you need to do something about the HDD noise. I modded mine by adding some round elastic (around 4 or 5mm) to suspend the drives inside the cage. It was actually a cargo net I used to use on my motorbike; I just unraveled that to have an almost unlimited supply of black, round elastic! I was go...

Here's their reply; Dear Mr Anderson, some new JS version have a fault in the temp algoritm coding, that's why the temp...
