Pleasantly suprised by Q9300

I just built a system with a Q9300, Ultra 120, and Sythe fans. I have been impressed by how cool this thing runs. Even after a lot of photoshop work (layering, filters, etc) and complies the temps are in the mid 40 range. I like these numbers, but want to ensure that they are not a fluke. Any sugges...

How do you attach you cooler mounting plate to your MB?

I got frustrated with the plate dropping every time I pulled my Ultra 120. So I used a little electrical tape to stick the plate to the underside of my Asus MB. Hopefully it will not melt over time.

Any issues removing grill on Modu+82?

Hi,

My case has a cross brace that runs right below where the power supply mounts. This brace presses against the grill on the Modu+82. Is there any issue, other than sticking my fingers into the fan, with removing this grill?

Any issues with ultra 120 height?

Hi,

Reading the specs and measuring my MB and case it seems that this cooler is very tall. Has anyone had problems using this cooler in a full size tower case?

Thanks for all the comments. I decided to take the Thermaltake back to Fry's and ordered the Enermax. The price is almost the same and hopefully the Enermax it will be as quiet as my Seasonics units.

I'm rather disappointed by the lack of connectors on the 425W model. Only 3 SATA connectors on one cord. Seasonic M12II-430 for the win. I hear that alot. However, I cant see why people would want anymore than 3 SATA connectors. 1 HDD + 1 optical drive + what? Extra HDD? I am planning a RAID 10 arr...

Thanks for the pointers. I tried a couple on on-line calculators and the power requirements listed were all over. For example, the calculator at Newegg said 698 Watts. Why do you need a 700 watt PSU anyway? Thermaltake aren't known for making remotely quiet PSU's. Couldn't find any noise reviews of the 700watt version, or the fan used, but i will make a guess that you can drop the wattage down and get a much quieter option. The popular option at the moment is the...

OK. That sounds good. I am thinking about going with a cheap card, since I may replace the MB in the ...

hmmmm.... a compaq AMD media center PC in a small tower form factor. My first guess is that the fan that's revving up and down is probably in the power supply, but it could also be a compaq-specific CPU heatsink/fan. I'd be interested in hearing about people's experiences with the Infrant ReadyNAS X6 or 600 boxes. Reviews seem to suggest it's reasonably quiet, but still noticeable. How loud is it with 3 or 4 large drives running? And how hot do the drives get? One of the advantages of a NAS box is that it can b...
