Wanted: mATX Motherboard with P45 chipset (LGA775)

i'm currently looking for a motherboard with the Intel P45 chipset, it have to be LGA775, Micro ATX, SATA2, DDR2-667/800 up to 4gb or 8gb, I/O shield included, and the PCI-Express x16 2.0 slot have to be on top completely (1st slot). Also, the capacitors have to be fine as well (not bloated or leaki...

Re: 2.87gb RAM usable out of 4gb? help please.

well the Antec TP 550W have 2x PCIe 6pins on it, i'm using a 2x Molex to 1x PCIe 6pins, and a 2x PCIe 6pins to 1x PCIe 8pins. I don't have any other powerful-enough PSU for it, and so far it seem to be alright. The E8400 itself isn't overclocked on that board, and i had to tweak some stuff in the BI...

Re: 2.87gb RAM usable out of 4gb? help please.

well it's more for the speed and cache size i got the E8400 on it, i tried Just Cause 2 on it, with fairly high details, and it seem to run fine on it. I paid like 20$ for the E8400, i already had an Antec Truepower 550W for it (used converters for the GTX295 (single board, not the old model) since ...

Re: 2.87gb RAM usable out of 4gb? help please.

I checked and what bother me with the Asus P5K-VM nd many other potentially suitables is the PCI-Express 16x use the 2nd slot, so that mean 2nd and 3rd slot will be taen and way too little space left for intake for a slot blower to help with cooling. It would be best if the PCIe 16x would use the 1s...

thing is i can get older PC stuff for really cheap sometimes around my location...like the base of this computer (case, psu, board, cpu, hard disk, DVD drive, RAM...), i got it for free...but yeah since then i swapped parts in it. So should i take out a 2gb stick from this computer to replace it for...

Re: 2.87gb RAM usable out of 4gb? help please.

well it's true i didn't specified...i use a Geforce GTX295 card in it, it's not the latest fastest PC, but it can still be pretty good for games that doesn't need a super computer, and to play older games from the 2004-2008 era in general.

2.87gb RAM usable out of 4gb? help please.

Ok i recently added more RAM to a MicroATX board i have here, which only have 2 slots for RAM. But it only show 2.87gb usable on 4gb. I tried swapping the RAM and it's doing nothing, i used Memtest and it pass (twice). Both RAM are the same brand (Kingston), same speed (667), and same model number (...

Re: Question about Q6600 and video cards.

one website recommend OCCT software for stress testing. Thing is it won't start the test with 2gb of memory. and i really think it's Celcius, since the 2 temperatures standards around are Fahrenheit and Celcius, and Celcius has always been used in computers. But anyway... The board is from a Dell XP...

Re: Question about Q6600 and video cards.

i installed Real Temp and Prime95, it seem like while Speedfan tell me 35 Celcius for 1 core, Real Temp tell me around 43-45 Celcius, and i did a Prime95 test, and all cores temps stayed under 58 Celcius under load, and seem to drop rather quickly (i'm guessing this is because of my Ninja heatsinks ...

Re: Question about Q6600 and video cards.

well i just installed the HR-05 on the chipset (Nvidia), i had to screw around with the loops on the board as they weren't facing the right way, so i had to twist them a bit so the hooks would get inside both. You say this isn't required? well...i think more and better cooling is always better, and ...

Re: Question about Q6600 and video cards.

i do use the XMP profile on my DDR3, to actually use my RAM to its full DDR3-1600 capacity (my board is 1333 of FSB normally, so it's just slightly overclocked by the XMP). But yeah, i wouldn't need such a thing for DDR2. I do have 2 sticks of DDR2 in my 2nd PC right now, one taller stick (normal si...

Re: Question about Q6600 and video cards.

hmm i tried a way to overclock the CPU, and now when i look in Speedfan, the "CPU" goes up to about 80 Celcius, though the 4 cores tend to be much lower, around 50-60 Celcius. With a little research, i found that the G0's "TjMax" is 100 Celcius, while on CPU-World.com, they say the CPU's maximum tem...

yes it's a G0, and it's a Dell XPS 630 board (with the .12 BIOS, not the last .13), with DDR2 RAM slots only. i've put my Scythe Ninja Plus rev.B on the CPU for better cooling, and i wonder if i can still overclock that CPU for more than 2.62Ghz. well it's standard, but the case itself, the board is mounted upside down, so the CPU it pointing downward, expansion cards are pointing up, power supply is up in the case, and some things are proprietary such as the front I/O board for buttons, THOUGH you can still use the "Front LED" headers which...

Pci-Express 6pin to 8pin, safe?

i might get a Dell XPS 630i board from a friend (with C2Q6600 + 8gb DDR2-800) and maybe the power supply that go with it, supposedly a 750W Dell genuine PSU. Now that power supply only have 2 x 6pin PCIe connectors, and i would like to use a Geforce GTX 280 OC on it, which have 1x 6pin and 1x 8pin c...
