Cooler recommendation for A8V/P150/X2 3800 Combo

Hi, just wondering what cooler you guys would recommend for use with an X2 3800 on an A8V in a P150. The potential pitfalls are the "north-south" orientation of the RM on the A8V and tight fit in the P150... This rules out the Scythe Mine and the Thermalright Ultra-120. I'm also having trouble findi...

I'd like to to know just how the dust filter prevents the invasion of Chile - the Antec developers are getting a little too clever, methinks... Or, perhaps, the folks who wrote the translator program aren't clever enough? Its a P150 and... wait for it... its Black! http://www.boozingea...

Zalman fittings for LGA775

Hi,

Does anyone know if the LGA775 retention module is the same for both the CNPS7700 and the CNPS9500? Someone has offered me a 9500 without fittings and I have some spare from a 7700... :?:

I've not seen those head-to-head blofelds results before. Yeah, it does look pretty close! The X2 4200 v. D 940 isn't a fair comparison either as they are not at the same price-point. The 940s extra cache goes some way to compensate for the Pentium 4/D's lower FPU performance. Still, the Athlons pro...

A couple of things worth considering for DAW builds: 1) Dual core Athlon/Opteron is the way to go as they have better FPU performance than Pentiums (important in Cubase etc). Cubase also benefits from the Opterons extra L2 cache. 2) Pro audio interfaces don't get on well with PCI-E based AMD boards....

Everflow fans are hit and miss in general. I've fitted quite a few budget systems with quiet Glacialtech heatsinks and maybe half have developed fan issues inside of 12 months, so I stopped buying 'em. Its a shame because the Glacialtech heatsinks themselves are cost effective and very well designed.

Might just get one for... 'stock'.
That is exactly what I thought. ;)

Scan made a mistake on my last order and gave me free delivery on my next, so I made the most of the opportunity...

I've had a couple of the 120mm SilentBlades. Good for the price, but they do seem to suffer if not used with the best honey-combed fan outlets when compared to the Yate-Loon/Nexus. Maybe the 9 blade design results in higher impedance? Subjectively, they sound considerably louder when mounted in an A...

The Seasonic S12s are on offer again. The 430w version is just under £36 - cheaper than the 380w - beat that! :-O

Useful source of handy bits and pieces, such as molex terminals, cable management stuff, grommets, ducting etc. There isn't much in the "Silent PC" section, unfortunately ;)

I'm surprised they didn't charge you for return shipping on the RMA! ... Unless they accept that noisy = faulty  The whine is definately very remiscent of the hissing that some drives develop after a few years of daily duty... This one produces alot of EMI, too. Enabling SSC for SATA helps some...

I've just picked up a 2500KS and it also exhibits the same hissing at idle. It sometimes lowers in pitch and becomes slightly louder for no ostensible reason. Other than that, it seems to have the same (good) vibration characteristics as most newer WDs. Seeks are noisier than Samsungs, but cause muc...
