I measure 118mm from PCB to top of heatpipe ends on a Biostar TF7050-M2. As discussed previously (can't find the thread now) on SPCR the "bolts" on top of the heatpipes on the Ninja and the Minja is purely cosmetic and can be removed with a varyiyng degree of violence. This will give you a few more ...

I realize this i snot what you are asking for, but maybe an easier and (probably) better performing solution is a suspended enclosure of your current drive? Like you say the UDMA CF cards are pricey compared with lesser performing cards, a good IDE-adapter costs a bit aswell and success is NOT guara...

Underclock PIII/Celeron using pinmod?
Hello, I'm setting up a new firewall using an old PIII. But I want to lower the already low power requirements even further and so I've been searching how to accomplish that using pinmodding (no options in BIOS). However this information is getting old and I can't find anything reliable. So dear SPC...

I would probably guess closer to 50% efficient at that low of a load. But even really efficient PSUs aren't going to be very efficient at that low of a load. And even if something was 80% efficient, you're still only talking a couple of watts. So maybe 20W instead of 22W. It seems overkill to me to...

Need dirt cheap very low power PSU
Hello, I'm gonna add a firewall to my network that'll be very low power and passively cooled: HP mATX motherboard from VL400 series PIII/Celeron 600Mhz (12w) 1x PC133 DIMM 1x CF card on IDE bus 1x PCI NIC With an old Chieftech 300w PSU it draws 22w from the wall. For estetic and noise reasons and be...

I actually checked a friends microwave of the same make, to see if it was an error with our model or sample. His used 73w in idle!! For some reason current is constantly flowing to the motor that spins the dish. It can be seen when plugging or unplugging, the dish will twitch slightly. That is terr...

kentc, good effort with 175 kWh between two people. Thank you! It's really not that hard I think, when we're as well set up as we are. At first I didn't like it that we had the washing machine and dryer in our apartment. in Sweden it's much more common to share those facilities with the rest of you...

About 175kWh per month, two people in a two room apartment, 52m^2. Pretty dark here in the winter :) Heating is district heating f...

Only recently have the S12-380s been made 80plus compliant, do you have one of those or one of the earlier ones? Can't find any date of manufacturing on it, S/N R0612AA2B0960794. Could 0612 mean december 2006? No 80+ sticker on it. So hopefully it will perform better in the server then... Thanks fo...

Disappointed with S12-380 (SS-380HB)
Hello, so I just ordered a Seasonic S12-380 for my server, mainly because of efficiency. Just for fun I measured it against my SS-300SFD 80+ Seasonic and was very disappointed with the results: SS-300SFD idle: 25w, max during bootup: 64w SS-380HB idly: 31w, max during bootup: 77w I believe it will b...

Well considering I only get a 22w idle, it's probably a very low power HD. 22w wouldn't be possible otherwise I think...Palindroman wrote:@ Kentc: According to Samsung your hard drive is 3.5" but it has the same power specifications as a 2.5" HD. This page can't be right, right?
