Cooler Master advertises their use of small copper plates on the heatsinks as a means of increasing heat dissipation, since copper transfers heat faster than aluminum. Aluminum still dissipates the heat faster to the surrounding air , which is one reason the whole cooler isn't made of copper. Sorry...

Idle temps are around 40C, and seem to stabilise at around 77-78C max after running ATI Tool artefact testing for half an hour or so (this is in a P182 with a single Nexus exhaust running mostly at 600rpm). There's definitely no flickering, at least not that I've noticed. Sounds good, thanks for sh...

I have a Western Digital, specifically WD2500KS-00MJB0, and it's the quietest drive currently around IMO. Same drive, same opinion here. I had opportunity to see 250GB Hitachi/Samsung P/WD SE16 (multiple samples) in action before pulling the trigger and it wasn't even close. WD all the way. So IMHO...

7600GS is a low end card both in performance and power requirements. It doesn't even need external power connector. xbitlabs estimates power draw of only 27.4W under load, so I'm not really impressed with S2 performance yet. I was looking at the performance of the card compared to the allowed max t...

Both temps you read via the LM99 are VGA related. Local@LM99 (the one you labeled as 'Case') should be GPU core temp and Remote@LM99 should be GPU ambient temp. That's usually the temp of monitoring chip itself. You should stress your VGA a bit and then observe how do those two temps behave. My gues...

The so-called scroll noise has usually been related to the VGA.

I'd suggest you to double-check whether it's really coming from your PSU.

You can help yourself with some cardboard to isolate certain areas inside your computer in order to determine the source of the noise.

again, yes, it's GPU limited, but it (along with madshrimps article) answers the question Mats asked. and believe it or not, many people still think that AMD systems lose performance if you switch away from '1:1'. No, all you showed is that the performance of Doom 3 at those settings is limited by your video card. It doesn't say anything about "overall system performance", or the effect of memory on such. well, i can run timedemo at 640×480 with low detailes but that wouldn't be real-world performance anymor...

It looks like you're GPU limited in Doom 3 at these settings. we are talking real-world performance here. my point is to show that memory has little influence on overall system performance in that case on K8 architecture. Also, the two 512MB modules are forcing you to run at 2T Command Rate (unless...
