Hi Vanseb,
Well, I'm glad it seems like the 1.7 BIOS is working for you.
I have an MT-32 and it works at the voltages I indicated in my last post with the 1.6 BIOS. I wonder if there was an update in the BIOS tables for the MT-37 in version 1.7?
Anyway, good luck with it.

Vanseb, If you look at a previous post of mine in this thread you will see that the ASRock K8NF4G-SATA2 sets the vcore high for the MT Turion for BIOS pre version 1.6. When I flashed the BIOS to 1.6 the MT Turion vcore was set to 1.25v but in Linux it showed up as 1.2V. I'm not sure why the differen...

Hello, Here is my two cents worth on the topic. First, I have not experimented with HDTV so I don't know what are the real requirements for the CPU. That said, I have built several Mythtv systems using a turion and a mobile sempron. Since you are considering these CPU's then a socket 754 board is re...

Hi, I thought I answered your question but maybe I didn't make myself clear. Yes, one can change the Vcore in the BIOS and boot at lower core voltage and/or speed. The BIOS prevents you from overvolting the CPU by setting a maximum Vcore you can set, which is 1.25V for the MT-32 and the BIOS I have ...

Hi, About the Vcore: I haven't really tried to overclock or push the voltage on the CPU. My goal was to have a quiet, low power system. The Vcore that comes 'up' when booting the system is the max value of the Vcore voltage for the Turion which is 1.2V. When I boot into Linux (I don't use Windows) i...

Hi, I don't know about either of the boards you mentioned but the ASRock board I mentioned above works very well with the MT-32 I have. It recognizes the chip correctly and can throttle both speed and voltage using powernow. I suppose the MT-40 will work fine as well. I use the Pico120PSU with an 80...

Update on Asrock MB and Turion
Hello, I finally got around to measuring the power supplied to my system (see post above for initial comments). The system is an Asrock K8N4FG-SATA2 socket 754 MB and has the Nvidia 6100 chipset. I use the onboard video. The CPU is a Turion MT-32 and the harddrive is a 40 GB Samsung SATA notebook dr...

Thanks for the info-- About the voltage: suppose the power dissipation scales like V^2 then the TDP, for the same clock speed, would be ~ (1.2/1.4)^2~0.73 for the mobile sempron. Therefore the power dissipation would be, for a mobile sempron, ~59W*0.73~43W. So, it seems to me, either the cores are d...

Difference between Mobile Sempron and 'regular' Sempron
Hello, I tried a search to see if this topic was covered but I couldn't find any discussions. Basically, I am a bit confused about the TDP for the mobile and regular semprons. The low wattage mobile Semprons have a TDP of 25W but the regular Semprons are 59-62W. The voltage the mobile Sempron runs a...

Hi, I posted this sometime ago (end of January) on the motherboard forum at anandtech--- I don't know what ASRock's official position is about supporting the Turion but I have ASRock's NVidia 6100 board. The BIOS that came with the board (it was purchased about 3-4 weeks ago) recognized my Turion (M...
