It's just an eheim pump with an inverter on the back though? You could buy a new eheim pump and remove the fittings off the failed pump.

I run semi-clamped with 7/16" on 1/2" barbs. I put a few clamps on, but those I left bare are more than tight enough to hold. Been running for a couple of months now with no leaks. Elbows definitely restrict flow, see if you can use 45 degree elbows or something (if available) as the smaller the ang...

Silcone is a lot more porous than vinyl so it'll let the additives leech through to a much greater extent. There's a reason most water cooling systems are vinyl these days rather than silicone.

That's not a problem, even according to manufacturer specs. Reserator pump has pressure head of 60cm, or two feet, so as long as difference between pump and highest/lowest position of the loop is between the two-foot range, you're fine. Read the thread posted. Height difference makes no difference....

Fans over 120mm are seldom quiet - if nothing else you get quite a bit of bearing and motor noise.

An issue with the reserator is the pump is so small and crappy you can't realistically cool more than a CPU with it without just choking the flow right off. They haven't really improved that from what I can see and if that black chunk is just a massive heatsink bolted on the side it's a bit of a wea...

Yeah a good waterblock and water is likely better than direct die flourinert, especially given flourinert is actually pretty poor as a coolant.

Black part will be anodised aluminium. I'd guess the black section is a two-pass radiator, the water flows along the bottom , up the opposite side and returns along the top (or vice versa). That photo does make it look like it's just the tube, but the pump connections are unclear, and what would be ...

Tap water is full of impurities, distilled water is filtered to leave a negligible amount. Distilled water is distilled not filtered (hence the name). Distilling is the process of evaporating the water off then collecting the steam and condensing it back to water. The impurities tend not to evapora...

I remember discussing the Nexus top speed thing on here a while back, someone said they just changed the IC to limit the top speed, like a rev limiter on a car. You can adjust the controller IC on brushless fans to pulse the coils at a lower frequency resulting in a slower fan. I'd assume that's wh...

Don't forget HDDs are basically a big chunk of metal, so pretty good it dissipating heat. :p NB: You can't actually hear a 15Hz noise, human hearing only extends down to 20Hz at best, but you get higher frequency harmonics from fan bearings, and these are proportional to the RPM. So lower speed fans...

Hello, I would think that rust might be a problem? Well radiators normally run with water flowing through them, so they should be ok. You'd need a fairly hefty pump, but I can't see why you couldn't use one. They're so big it should work fine even with the relatively low temperatures. You're trying to cool the PC not heat the room after all. ;)

depravedone is correct - simply reducing the voltage isn't a good way to reduce AC fan speed. AC fans spin at a speed based on the AC frequency, not on the voltage. A rheostat works, but that's because at lower voltage the motor has less torque so slows down because of friction and air resistance. I...

I'd advise dropping the 40mm fans if possible, and keeping larger case fans running at 7 or 5V. Reason is large fans tend to run quieter, and in particular 40mm fans tend to be very noisy relative to their airflow.

hmm thinking... In my water system, ambient is 22-24 degrees. And during load I get about 30-32C water temps. And this is with a amd 3000+ venice which outputs much less than 100watts (around 50-60watts I guess). So 20C is not really off base for a 100watt system. If you have a good contact between...

Typically you'll get 20C above ambient, in a good watercooled system for 100watts. So adding a 10watts harddisk to that loop will increase the temps by 2 degrees. Nothing important. How do you figure that? Most of the delta for CPU to ambient is in the TIM and waterblock interfaces, not the radiato...
