I was home over lunch and looked into it a bit more. My Nexus PSU have use a Nexus fan, but it's certainly audible and seems to run at full speed 24/7. It's probably louder than the gfx card atm. If I'm going to use Speedfan to control my fan speeds should I disable automatic fan control on the moth...

I have a Super T-Amp and have thought many times about mounting mine inside my case also. The 12v rail is a good idea. I just need to figure out how to bypass the volume knob and hard-wire that now too.

Please forgive this likely dumb question, but ... My understanding is that there are no issues or concerns with running a single ATI or NVIDIA card under any chipset. In other words, an NVIDIA card can run without issue under an NVIDIA 680/750/780 chipset and under a P35/X38 chipset just fine. And ...

I've often wondered why there isn't just a lattice work of metal behind the mobo. It'd cover all of your mounting locations and add a lot of space for wire management or heat dissipation.

I'm sure it'd cost more to produce... but whatever.

Windows spinning up HDDs

I'm running Vista 64, though this happened on Vista 32 and XP as well: Every 20 minutes or so my HDDs spin up, even my external. Is there a reason for this? My drives aren't soft mounted (anymore) so I do hear this rather well, especially on my external drive. I'd like to let windows shut my drives ...

I love seeing griefers balking at 500w or even 600w PSU's. It's not like he threw a 1000w or even a low quality (high heat) 500w PSU in there. That Corsair is very efficient, low noise, and has huge upgrade potential. Not a bad decision at all.

Vista can use fast flash drives for the page file. Why not just insert a flash drive in XP and assign the page file to it? That'd help with all that extra seek noise at least.

The best of any media PC case. (You could say I'm biased as I came up with much of its thermal/airflow design but I've also examined dozens of other media PC cases.) That's an awful nice case, I agree, but I think the Ahanix still takes the cake from an appearance standpoint. http://www.ahanix.com/...

I have a Lian Li PC-V1000 and I can't hear it from 2 feet away. I'm using Nexus case fans, Nexus PSU, quiet HDD and Nexus as a CPU fan. It's awful quiet. I took a piece of foam and separated off the front from anything that generates noise in the upper chamber. That seems to do the trick.

The V1200 is quite a bit longer. Mostly likely it won't do you any extra good. I've had my PC-V1000 for a year now and it's a pleasure to work in. The dust isn't bad - no worse than any other case. There is a filter on the front fan. You have room for 6 fans in stock locations or 4 suspended. http:/...
