looking fan controller with pwm input and 3 pin output

I want to use an old pair of Nexus D12SL-12 to replace the fans on my EVGA GTX970 but I want to retain the ability for the card to control the fan speed. I previously used these fans on my GTX 560Ti 448 and they did a great job of cooling the card but at 12V they were slightly noisier than I'd like ...

Thanks for the responses.

CA_Steve, thanks for the link. I didn't realize Newegg had a "fanless" search option.

quiet video for nsk2480 htpc

Looking for recommendations for a silent or very quiet solution that will fit in an NSK2480.

No gaming, just Windows Media Center, Netflix, DVD, blu ray.

Thanks.

Re: Passive airflow w/ modders mesh and foam filter?

Probably not well which is why foam is such a great insulator. I'm not familiar with the foam you are referring to but you'd want the thinnest, most porous, open-cell foam you can find. Modder's mesh, or perforated metal, comes in a variety of hole sizes and spacing. mcmaster.com has a really good s...

flexible SSD/HDD mounting options for up to three 5.25" bays

I'm reusing my beloved P150 for my next build which will run primarily off an SSD with a 3.5" HDD that I will use for backup, both local data and data from other machines on my network. To squeeze in my graphics card, I've opted to completely remove the lower HDD cage so I will be mounting all drive...

CA_Steve, thanks for the offer on the MB but my TV tuner is PCI-1x and it will be too close to the video card to allow installation of a larger heatsink.

And thanks for the video card recommendation. I might just do that.

Re: Sub $300 M-ATX MB/CPU/MEM/Video Recommendation

Thanks for links. I'll need some time to digest them. ITX is too small as I need room for a TV tuner card that I already have and would like the option of adding a dedicated video card if the need arises. I'd like to keep the cost as low as possible while keeping flexibility high. I tend to repurpos...

Sub $300 M-ATX MB/CPU/MEM/Video Recommendation

For the last two years I've been pretty happy with my PS3 feeding my projector setup until these last few months. I've grown tired of firing up the system only to find I have to do yet another update before we can begin watching a bluray, netflix, or streaming video from my Linux bittorrent server. ...

In order to remove the PSU, the motherboard has to be removed, unless I'm missing something! You're just missing a drill bit. When I had to RMA the PSU due to a fan issue, I drilled out the rivets holding the top on and replaced them will plastic push-in rivets. This made a PSU swap very easy. With...

Comparing the performance differences between the two would be splitting hairs. If you can find a P182 significantly less expensive than the P183, that would be something to consider. Cases don't make noise. The most you can ask of a case is to have good airflow and dampen (not amplify) vibration. T...

I don't directly see what else do they save from moving the 12V->5V conversion from the PSU to the mobo than having shorter wires for 5V power. But if the 5V needs to be further converted to some other voltage, surely it is more efficient to do it directly from 12V without the intermediary step? An...

Google uncloaks once-secret server While their overall approach doesn't share much in common with SPCR methodology, perhaps their power supply setup could potentially help lower power consumption in all PCs. For those suffering from short attention span, they use a 12V only PSU. 5V is generated out...

Putting the HDD in a chamber with the PSU is basically what the Antec P180 does.

This article uses a passive PSU which is then augmented with a fan. The video card is then isolated in its own chamber.

Annoying that there seem to be no pics of the case interior available.

If you can find a way to suspend the drives and augment case cooling with a 120mm fan, you should be in pretty good shape.

It would be very helpful if you could mount a 120mm fan on the side vent like the NSK2400. I don't think quiet 80mm fans will move much air.

Otherwise, it depends on what you're going to put in it. How many drives? What video card? What gpu and cpu coolers?

I use the ram sinks that came with the heatsink. The RHS88 part for the 8800 series doesn't work with the GT.

N7SC is talking about room acoustics which are obviously important in a lecture hall where you need to hear the lecturer. But what you are asking for is sound attenuation so you don't hear your PCs. Think of ripples in a pond. To stop the ripples you need a wall. Aside from a door, you might need to...
