Thanks for the comments. :) The HDD is 7200rpm, and runs quite cool inside the enclosure; 32-34°c after several hours at 21-22°c ambient. I didnt take enough readings before putting the drive in to make a thorough comparison, however, i have done the same with a WD2500JS and a Seagate 80gb 7200.7....

Go custom if your up for it Agreed. Here's my Gainward 6600 AGP: http://www.psykotech.com/mods/cooling/21.jpg http://www.psykotech.com/mods/cooling/22.jpg The heatsink was liberated from a P2-350 that used to live in a SFF compaq system. It makes contact with the core and HSI chip, and is held on w...

Yes, it's secured by two screws and can slide out once they're removed.

I've got a Tt big typhoon on a 2500+ @ 200x10/1.55v in an NF7-s 2.0. With the fan at 12v (1300rpm) it's audible even from a distance, but it's a low pitched kind of hum that isnt too intrusive. With the fan running from 7v (~800rpm?) it's effectively inaudible from 1 meter or so. Either way, it's pe...

Quick question... Do you know if Centurion side panels are exchangeable? I bought a Centurion 5, but didn't get it yet. Apparently they come with ugly TAC holes these days, and I'm hoping I can just swap the panels so the holes face the side of the desk where I don't see them. Which model? On this ...

I take it you're after something similar to these: http://www.psykotech.com/mods/cooling/8.jpg http://www.psykotech.com/mods/cooling/9.jpg I picked them up from an electronics store here in aus. They'll keep a HDD (or two) nice and cool, but they seem to amplify any noise the drive makes. Damping th...

I've just tried this myself, and have to say that it works extremely well. The drive i used was a WD2500JS, which is fairly quiet at idle, but seeks are plainly audible even a couple of meters away (in a quiet room) with the drive sitting on foam or suspended. That's with AAM enabled and at it's qui...

It's an australian store, but you'd probably be able to get them somewhere a bit closer.

My 2500JS (manufactured 13th of feb 06) has the same issue.

Since it shouldnt have an effect on reliability, i dont think i'll bother getting a replacement (unless it develops other problems), but it is good to know that they will RMA because of this.
