I've got one of these on my powercolour radeon 9600. It's a zalman ZM-NB32K chipset heatsink. http://www.zalman.co.kr/upload/product/zm_nb32k_c_p.jpg With a little bit of airflow directed across it has worked fine for the last six months for me. The stock cooler and fan was a nightmare as it was a r...

Socket 478 heatsink reccomendations

Hi All I've managed to pretty much silence my main PC using this site but I now need a bit of advice for my server. It's a sckt 478 P4 1.8 ghz and I have suspended the 4 hard drives using bungee cord which has reduced the noise a lot. I've also modded the PSU with a 80mm panaflo and thats helped a l...

I also suffer from tinnitus but fortunately (Thank God) not as bad as some people.
I thought the nexus fans would be the quietest??

Well it arrived this morning - Deffo the non sleeved version although the cables are massively long compared to my old Q-tec PSU. Stuck it in powered on and oh my!!! The difference is amazing - I literally cannot hear the PSU from about 1ft away! Excellent. Only problem is now that I can hear my ha...

I believe (from what MikeC posted) the cables are longer and sleeved.
Is that it?? then thats ok then. Not bothered about sleeving and my case is small enough for it not to be a problem. I'm relieved now :)

Hello Paul, If you like black cases better than white, or if it doesn't matter; then you might want to wait for the Antec "Solo" case. Scroll down for it: http://syndicate.tentoe.com/__FileManager__/Org_100_41/992/2006.ProductCatalog.4.6.06.ED.web.pdf It is basically a black P-150 w/o the power sup...

P150?

Right i'm after a new case and have read the reviews of the P150 and I really like the look of it. The question is this: Having read the reviews and also the warning re the PSU is it still worth going for?? Have the issues been fixed and what would happen if the one I had turns out to have a problem...

currently got a q-tec 500w big fan psu - one exhaust fan (akasa I believe) Am thinking of changing this for the nexus fans as they are supposed to be the quietest ones available. I pretty peed off as I've just bought the psu, hsf and case fan before I found this place - probably gonna have to repla...

yes that would be enough, but it's more important to get the hot air out, than to push fresh air inside; so 2x80mm at rear, 1x80mm in the front would provide better results. also a simple duct mod connecting the Ninja with the rear fan(s) will drop temperature noticeably. 2.4Ghz "C" Northwood is no...

currently 1 80 mm exhaust fan on back of case and soon to be 2 80 mm nexus intake fans.

Would that be enough or too much or what?? In fact are there any articles about airflow and case fans etc knocking about?

so as long as you have a little air directed right at that heatsink you'll be fine. i wouldn't worry about it too much. Got a 80mm quiet fan blowing across it and out through an open pci slot and the heatsink is much cooler now!!! Cheers for all the help people - although now i'm looking at gutting...

Unless the fan is bolted to the cooler you can change it. To what fan that depends on what airflow you'll need. With a case-fans you probibly doesn't need the 32CFM your present fan has I'm to lazy to check the heat your cpu is creating but if you have case-fans I doubt you should have a problem ru...

Could I change the fan on this??

I've recently purchased one of these http://www.tr2tt.com/products/coolers/m10se/m10se.htm Whilst it is much quieter than the stock p4 I had I was wondering wether I could change the fan on it for something even quieter?? Any recomendations or is it really not worth it?? Cheers ps I might consider t...

The case fans are 80 mm. The cable routing is next on the hit list. Re the zalman heatsink - it came this morning and i have now installed it. The whole PC is now less "offensive" noise wise. The heatsink is already hotting up and is almost too hot to touch - and this was all while sitting idle at t...

Of course, any passive GPU heatsink needs some internal airflow to be effective. And be sure to clean the GPU core and use a good TIM like Arctic Silver Ceramique when you replace the heatsink. I've purchased the NB32K so am waiting for that to arrive now. I'm new to all this stuff and having never...

cheers for the replies. I've looked into that aerocool thing but I think it may interfere with a heatsink on my motherboard(Asus p4p800). I had toyed with the idea of unplugging the fan altogether. I have also looked at the zalmans but i think they are too expensive. What types of heatsinks have bee...

Powercolor Radeon 9600 Pro

I have one of these fellas and tbh it's doing my head in. I suffer from tinnitus and have been on a quest to make my pc run a bit quieter, however the weak point is this card - it has a tiny fan on it and it's playing havoc with my ears so would like a bit of advice as to what people think may be th...
