If I were building a system like this, I would seriously consider going "caseless". Have you seen the pics where folks have attached the motherboard to the back of their desk? Anyone have a link?

Well, there's something like this -

Could be used in any case, as long as you have 3 free 5.25' drive bays.

Other companies make similar cages - I know Coolermaster for one.

In my NSK2400, I have a Thermalright XP-90 with a Nexus fan.

Works great, fits easily.

I'm surprised you would go to all the trouble of making your CPU passive-cooled, but keep the whiny VGA fan. Should be the other way 'round.

I'm using an XP-90 with a Nexus fan for the CPU in my NSK2400, with a passive VGA card and it's plenty quiet.

Swiftech makes a mosfet heatsink now, similar to the ramsinks made for video cards. I'm thinking about getting a set for my Asus P5B Deluxe.

I just got one of the new WD5000 drives and it's running at 53 - 54C.

I would like to try the "MikeC method" and see just what difference that makes in the temps. I've got another project going right now, but I'll try to get to it soon... :)

Hi all, I recently got an NSK2400 and built it lovingly with loads of hints/tips/etc from everyone here. However, I've come across one huge problem. I have a Samsung SP 250gb hdd and it makes huge amounts of noise. I used to have it in another comp (sonata case) suspended on elastic and had no real...

I thought about going with one of the 120mm HSF's, but the 3200+ is a pretty cool running CPU anyway and I figured it wouldn't matter if the temps were only a few degrees warmer. I'm happy with the XP-90 - it's a great fit for this case and mobo. Another issue you might want to consider - it was tou...

Here's the suspension from my new HTPC. I'm using the 1/8" round elastic, and I've come up with what I believe is a new way to attach the drives. It uses heat-shrink tubing to attach regular HD mounting screws to the ends of the elastic. Pic=1000 words. http://img517.imageshack.us/img517/1189/img242...

I thought about that too. I actually considered modding the case to include some vent holes on the case bottom on that side. But I decided to hold off. I'm going to monitor the drive temps for a while first.

Thanks for the replies. The primer is Rust-oleum Plastic Primer. The paint is Createx Auto Air, which is a water-based custom automotive paint. Then 2 coats of automotive urethane clearcoat. I've painted some other plastics - a couple of laptops, keyboards and mice, etc. and they turned out great. T...

My New HTPC Build - with Antec NSK2400

I've been lurking here for a while, and I wanted to post this build log here. SPCR seems to be the main place of interest for the new Antec cases, and it was the source of inspiration for my version of it. Here's my new setup - put together before the SPCR review came out ;) Honest... Case - Antec N...
