Nice build, might have to give something like this a bit of a go at some point. Where did you get that motherboard tray and pci card holder?

Yeah, finding wild animals that can kill you is really quite a challenge in northern europe.

Slick build btw.

I bought the thing for two reasons: First, I do want something I can move around, to share large quantities of files with mates (all non-copyright, of course). Also, I'm getting a laptop before I go to uni, and this way I won't need to copy lots of files across my distinctly flaky wireless network. ...

Silencing external Drive?

I have a LaCie D2 (bought before i started to think about silencing), and it's now by far the loudest component in my system. This is particularly annoying as it has to be on if I want to listen to any music. I've recently realised it was making my whole desk vibrate, through it's (fairly soft) rubb...

Fair enough.

I was worried that if you had to do that too much the top fins might start to get a bit close to the fan, but I'll take your word that it's ok.

This is a bit of a silly question, but has anyone had a go at getting a zalman CNPS9500 in there. I know it'll take some modification, but I'm not sure how much... I'd rather not buy another high-end heatsink.

I'm also in the with a similar problem. I haven't found anywhere (big and hence cheap) that will let you select by heatsink type. However, as Dabs appear to like the category selection method, I've already emailed them about it, I suggest you do the same. I think it's rather important that on the re...

CPU Temperature Measuring

Not sure if this is the right forum, but seemed more related to monitoring than the main cpu forum... I was just wondering a little bit about how the cpu temp behaves, how it's measured, what's normal. The reason I ask is that I'm not sure whether the readings I'm getting from my cpu are realistic. ...

I only used "passive" in the confined sense of the CPU cooler, which I think is justified, as the intention is to cool the cpu without the extra fan, and hopefully not need the case fans to do much more work. But you guess what I meant, so it's alright really I reckon I'm going to get the XP-120 and...

Thanks, thought the XP-120 would probably fit, just needed to be sure.

However, what I really wanted to know it whether it's suitable for passive cooling, or are there any heatsinks that will fit in a case that size and still be able to work passively.

Low(ish) profile Passive Heatsink for an HTPC

I guess the Subject is a bit of a contradiction in terms, so i'm not necessarily expecting a good answer, but hey, you never know. I'm looking to turn a PC i'm about to replace into and HTPC, and I'd like to passively cool the processor. It's a celeron 2 GHz system (Northwood), and I'm wondering whi...
