So it looks like ich10r is only on socket lga775 boards? So no i3 or other clarkdale processors with it I guess.

Cool, I'll check out the intel boards/cpus. Looks like the ich10r boards don't have integrated video which is a bummer.

Cool, I think I'll give that a shot then. Probably better to go for the athlon II card then I guess, since now I'll be using CPU cycles? What motherboard are you running? I couldn't find mention of ICH10R in the newegg specs for either of those boards I listed. Or is that only on the intel boards? E...

So if you're copying a large (say 4gb) file from your server to another computer on the network, what is your actual write speed? Gigabit tops out at around 125mb/s I believe so is that what you're getting? 125 MB/s is the absolute max in theory. In reality you'll never get that when you factor in ...

Aren't write speeds a lot slower with software Raid-5? I'm going to be transferring some large files back and forth (the source files for video editing) fairly often, so if I'm looking at a difference of 10mb/s vs. 100mb/s that's a big deal. Lots of software raid-5 implementations have slow writes,...

Unless you are really going to pound on it, why not just get an Intel board with RAID 5 and save a ton of cash by not getting the Areca? Aren't write speeds a lot slower with software Raid-5? I'm going to be transferring some large files back and forth (the source files for video editing) fairly of...

CPU/Mobo for home file server

I'm putting together a file server for home use. Main uses are streaming media and storing large files that I use when video editing for a hobby/small side job. I already have an antec 1200 case, the hard drives (Five 2tb wd green eads drives), and the PSU (500w 80 plus cert). I plan to get this Are...

My 8800GT is driving me nuts and I need to shut it up...

I just put together a new build, and everything is pretty quiet except my 8800GT, which is as loud as a vacuum cleaner. It's the XFX branded one, found here: http://www.amazon.com/XFX-PVT88PYDF4-GeForce-Express-S-Video/dp/B000XQHBEE/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1209339468&sr=8-1 The car...

Sorry to bump an old thread, but have there been any advancements with the LCD on the Fusion Black? I just got a Fusion Black, and I see that we're still stuck with this blue on blue crap (seriously, who made the decision to put this particular LCD into this case? They can't possibly have understood...

Bump. Ok what's the deal here. The threads about smallest full ATX cases get tons of responses, and every review of those cases starts with "while there are many great small cases, many of them will not take full atx mobo's..." So, where the heck are all these great small cases that only take mATX? ...

Yeah, that's probably a little too confining then.

Here's where I saw it for sale btw: http://www.sundialmicro.com/silverstone ... _1062.html

Any more suggestions out there?

Thanks, that one looks really slick. Only 120w PS though (is that even enough?) and the $250 pricetag scare me away a bit.

It's on my shortlist now, still looking for more opinions as well though.

Small, Quiet HTPC case

I'm looking to throw together a cheapy HTPC for my bedroom television. Nothing hardcore, just playing 720p off a slingbox and downloaded content. No tuners. For the case I am looking for something quiet and small. Most of the quiet cases I've seen recommended on here are rather large. I will need on...

Acer Aspire L310 as an HTPC...

I was looking to throw together a small, cheap HTPC for a secondary TV when this deal for the Acer Slimline L310 showed up really cheap at Circuit City. It has little room for expandability, so I had a few questions first. Here are the specs: C2D E6300 processor 1GB DDR2 memory Integrated nVidia 615...

HTPC Build...will this do?

Didn't see this forum before... Here is what I'm planning on ordering for my HTPC, but I figured I'd post here first for some to look over and give feedback on whether you think these are good selections or not. I'm mainly looking for something to store movies on and play them back with TT+FFDShow t...
