Interesting....can you play HD video using madVR renderer (MPC-HC should work) at default settings without frame drops? Maybe try the smoothmotion option too. What are the temps after 15min of playback?
Assuming, of course, you're running Windows...

Re: Asus H87I-PLUS hw monitoring/fan control - Linux [solved
I have an older Asus M4A and run Linux (openSUSE). I found that in order to get pwmconfig/lm-sensors to work, I had to add this to the kernel boot:
acpi_enforce_resources=lax

Re: How good was IBM OS/2 in 90s
is it true the UI of os/2 is the least user-friendly? I guess that would depend somewhat on your point of reference. I found it suitable for the times, given what we were doing with it. When NT4 came out (the Win95 GUI on top of NT), I remember thinking OS/2 and NT4 "felt" very similar, fwiw. btw d...

We ran Gupta's SQLBase (client/server SQL server) and 3Com's LAN Manager on OS/2 in the early days, and I mean early days. We developed one of the very first true Windows-based client/server apps using Gupta's SQLWindows as the client-side front-end on Windows 2.0 and Windows386....ah the good old d...

fwiw, I have everything in BIOS at "default" and use K10Stat for all settings. At my P3 state in K10Stat, I have: CPU Volt: .75 NB Volt: 1.0125 I could probably go lower with the NB, but I've been running this config for years and it's just rock solid. I've used PMSRT also, works the same, I just li...

Re: Overclocking Athlon X4 630 on Biostar TA790GXBE
... it's pretty much at it's limit already. It's a bit confusing that noee's CPU temp is actually lower than his Core temp whereas my CPU is quite a bit higher, at idle and load. It might be because of the orientation of my CPU fan and where the "CPU" sensor is located. Instead of the fan pointing ...

Re: Overclocking Athlon X4 630 on Biostar TA790GXBE
My fans are mislabeled. The one labeled chassis is actually the CPU fan (mini-Ninja w/80mm fan using SpeedFan/PWN) and the other two fans are 120mm case exit fans (using manual fan controllers/Fanmates) and yes, when encoding, this machine is a bit loud, but in "low power mode", with the fans at min...

Re: Overclocking Athlon X4 630 on Biostar TA790GXBE
Here is a shot from today running an encode, it's really cool today, about 70F in my office, so temps are a bit lower than normal. I usually go for the NB Freq setting (in CPUZ) stable as opposed to straight CPU clocks. Notice I'm single channel on the memory, I had a channel go bad a while back on ...

Re: Intel Haswell here, fully fanless pcs
To me the biggest disappointment is they say HD 4600 is still off limits to madVR's Jinc 3 and higher settings. I bet Intel HD 5x00 can handle it, but those are only available on OEM desktops :evil:. I bet it could be tweaked to work (FSE mode with chroma scaling at Lanczos or SoftCubic, perhaps) d...

Yes, I can verify what you describe with any ATI drivers after 7.3, regardless of the BIOS rev. I too am on the 0601 rev. My guess is that we'd have to wait for Biostar to release a driver pkg instead of using the driver right from ATI. And just to be clear, their are two voltage options for vcore i...

The board doesn't have any undervolting options in the BIOS Not true, at least in the newer BIOS version (4.27 and above).
