You can get a - pw-200-m, which is the pico's bigger cousin delivering up to 200W, for ~40$ + shipping. - Dell 220W power brick (da-2) from ebay for like 20$, and - the guide on how to solder them together (search on this forum), and you get a silent 200W supply for 60$ + shipping. I have a ati hd47...

Thanks for the nice feedback. There are many lawyers of spray paint 6-10(?), and about as many lawyers of clear gloss. Unfortunately the gloss didn't give a very smooth surface as advertised, the texture is kinda grainy. Also, because I put two thick coats of gloss in the end (all other coats were t...

I use chrome, and ad-block is the one thing I *really* miss (and no, javascript hacks to avoid ad's are not really the same thing). Use Iron. It uses the chrome source code but excludes all the built in tracking by google. Plus it has an ad blocker - you need to find the .ini on their webise though.

spray painting project - flying spaghetti monster on netbook

A computer project that didn't result in a quiet pc, but maybe still worth sharing. I feel that the words in the title are not in the right order, suggestions are appreciated. EDIT adjusted the title :P http://photos-e.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc1/hs206.snc1/7317_717897969687_13609079_42180463_71348...

help: can't force native lcd resolution on 4770

Hio, I got a ati 4770, but the drivers don't recognize the native resolution of both my lcd monitor and lcd projector, which are recognized as 1400x900 (vs 1650x1080) and 1024x768 (vs 1280x720). I can 'force' resolution in the catalyst control center, but that will only enable panning. I can add 'hd...

80W is the TDP, not how much power it actually consumes. QFT There were issues with review samples using very high quality components. Also, xbitlabs tests 'stress' with 3d mark 2006 afaik. Also some people say there might be some variation among the cards due to 'leakeage of the 40nm process'. My ...

Ant6n: Don't forget the power loss in the PSU. 20 W difference probably means 15 W or less. Oh, true. On the other hand I have a 220w dell brick, so I hope for a bit more efficiency than 75%. So let's say ~27w on idle and ~62w on load at the card. @idle - no driver ? > explain ! Well, you can boot ...

so xbitlabs reviewed the product, and it's much more favorable here. The performance comparison to the gts250 is marginal, and the idle power seems much lower than the hd4850. Max power is apparently only 50 Watts, although they tested it on an old cpu, with some probably no t very demanding benchma...

so again this raises the question whether one should get the geforce 250gts or the hd4770. The performance seems almost equal, they both seem to consume about 80 Watts on load, and both cost around 100$ (the 250 is currently at 110 AR, and will probably drop a bit more during the next couple of week...
