i7 975 extreme and Nexus fan

Anyone think I could somehow put a Nexus real silent on a i7 975? Would it be advisable? No OC so no temp probs at all, but the fan is a bit much.

Perhaps there is some other solution....that doesn't require re-seating the sink. :?

Thx guys

I have an i7 975 Extreme. I suppose that this clear plastic fan with goofy blue light isn't the quieter one you guys refer to in this thread. It isn't terrible, but can't imagine it passing spcr muster. I want to do something about it, but don't know what yet. The ideas here look promising, if they ...

Nothing stupid or confusing at all. Very much appreciate the input. Your thinking reinforces mine which is precisely what I needed.

Going with a fan in the HD cage as well the others.

Thx again,

I'll use the 2 P183 fans to move air generally -1 front, 1 back- for all the top chamber needs (cpu, gpu etc). The separated, walled off bottom chamber with the drives and PSU is the concern.

New i7 P183

Hi good folks. New i7 P183 going up now. Wondering what thinks of all three Seagate 1T 7200 rpm hd's in the bottom cage. Too hot? -especially just using the fan from the Seasonic 850w PSU.

Thx a bundle

Such good tips, but I'm off the rails. Got ahead of myself. I was adding in 2 new SATA drives to replace my old PATA's. Left the 2 pata opticals on the ide. All went well except my gigabyte ga-8ipe1000 shares the SATA with the ide i guess. At any rate it gives the opticals drive letter's c and d and...

Thanks for the input guys. Yes widow, my setup is similar to yours. Just so I'm clear, when I mentioned backing up my OS partition, I didn't mean like a full backup, although I have done that, backed up each partition. I realize that in that instance, the backups must be used as a set....lots of dvd...

Performance Partitioning

Hi Guys and Gals, For a new XP Pro install, I'm wondering what yuze think the performance hit is for not having my programs and games on my primary partition. For years I've used many partitions on all my rigs with the OS alone on the primary so I could image it for backup. I run two HD's, no raid a...

Yes, I figured it was something like that. That clears it up. Thx Mentawl.
At this stage I'd be happy just to get any solution a little quieter than the current fan.

Hi guys. I'm supposing that all discussion here refers to 7900gs PCI-e parts, and not AGP. I have the XFX 7900gs AGP. Wonder if the Accelero could be made to work on it. Artic Coolings page, sadly, specifically excludes 7x00gs AGP cards. I wonder why. Any ideas?

Thanks

XFX 7900gs AGP cooling

Hi guys. Anybody have a suggestion for quietly cooling a 7900gs AGP card. Unless I'm missing something, it seems Artic Cooling skipped this line. :(

Thx,

Good Luck on your end Raptor.

Mine started whining two days ago, or at least thats when I first noticed. It whines with the computer on or off. I bought it on the recommendation from SPCR. It's still on the list. It probably shouldn't be or a note about these failures included. In the last two days that's all I've read on the we...

Case is a fairly generic Antec looking tower. Afraid I don't know manufacture, but it's definately set up like many that I've seen. Sorry I don't have more. The fans came with the case and are 80mm. I'm running two of them. I've replaced the stock HSF with a brand new Vantac basic HSF. It is only me...

Hot Proc

Hi chaps and lasses. Glad to be aboard here. Glad 'you' are here. Been reading here for a year or so with no time to post, but now I'm pressed. Having begun the first steps of shushing my pc (replaced power supply), it's high time that I addressed trouble I've had since I threw it together, said tro...
