It's not that difficult. You can take the first measurement, then select the ticker on the first, do a second measurement to compare and click on the second ticker. You can see up to 8 graphs at the same time, plus the one u are measuring (in yellow). I use the black background. SpectraPLUS is very...

UP I know I am new, but having 90+ reads and not even an answer... What I need is only basic instructions on how to show a graph-style image just like MikeC does when comparing his ambient noise to a product's, like this one: http://www.silentpcreview.com/files/images/noiseless_pc/nVidia_labpc_13dba...

friendly user manual of SpectraPlus
Hello everyone, and especially MikeC I just downloaded the demo version of SpectraPlus which is I believe the software MikeC uses for his reviews on silent components, and was willing to take a try and with unprofessional instruments (my PC and a normal mic attached to it) to do some sound recording...

I have no interest in water cooling, but thanks for the suggestion. I have an Arctic Cooling Twin Turbo that I could put on it. I bought it for an 8800GT but that card did not offer PWM fan control so I didn't bother and replaced that card and a passively cooled 9600GT with a pair of GTS 250s. Ther...

Re: GPU client beating the crap out of my graphics card
I have the clocks on one of my GeForce GTS 250 graphics cards turned down as low as the EVGA Precision tool will allow, and it's still running 81 degrees and the fan at 83%. I am using the just released drivers, the official Windows 7 drivers from NVidia. I'm seeing some strong PPD numbers, but don...

Have you noticed any power consumption reduction switching from WinXP to Linux? Which distro are you using? I haven't tested under Linux yet. I'm using Ubuntu. Well, actually UBUNTU "is" Linux, in the sense that UBUNTU is a distribution based on a GNU/LINUX OS called "DEBIAN"... Anyway, I am...

Hi I don't have that PC, so I really cannot tell if what I am going to say makes sense, but looking at the pictures, it seems that the "memory" fan is mounted diagonally, in the sense that it doesn't blow perpendicularly on top of the memory modules, being pointed instead diagonally towards the rear...

Can you run the computer safely without the panel? Would be intresting to see the effects in numbers, primary temperatures then :-) Well, I made some tests yesterday night, *without* panel. CPU temps during DiVX play never went above 55°C, with room temperature @ 24°C constantly. I'll repeat test...

i wish you luck, but i don't think that will work very well. as you state, the venturi effect is caused by restricting a forced-fluid flow, and thermo-buoyant flow just doesn't have much 'force' behind it (really pressure). but if it works fine passively right now, it doesn't really matter if you d...

Here I am again with the new pics and steps for the WoodenPC. I inserted a panel inside the case to separate the motherboard zone from the heatsink-fins zone. This panel also helps me fitting the PSU inside the case. I'll later use some small-diameter screws to fix the center panel to the side panel...

A totally passive computer is technically very impressive. But with a fan at 5V you get so much better result and yet it's silent. What a fantastic build. It certainly makes a change from yet another P180/150 with Seasonic PSU and a Ninja! Even more impressive is the fact that the CPU you have chosen is quite hot, yet the temps are very reasonable! Of course the top of the case will be left open, to allow hot air to escape upw...

WoodenPC: Passively air cooled DIY HTPC
Hi, just wanted to get your comments on my ongoing project, an HTPC with a DIY wooden case (not exactly wood, but pressed carton... just the same :P ) All the case will be completely passively air cooled, not even one tiny fan will be used to cool the cpu or whatsoever component. Here's the specs: C...

Undervolting exhaust fan of no-brand psu: problems?
As the subject says, I undervolted the only exhaust fan down to 5V of a no-brand 450W psu, trying desperately to turn down the noise that damn thing makes. How did I do this? simple and very effective. The no-brand psu had some +5V "spots" not used from where all the +5V wires are soldered to, so I ...

I get the point, MikeC, and thank you for taking your time to reply. I was somewhat prepared for the costs, but did not imagine they were so HIGH! Eventhough, taking by chance the fact that we (you, me, anybody) still could afford to pay for such structures, still remains the dimensional issue, as y...
