AA = 167GB platters KS = SATA JS = PATA The extra zero is actually part of the "320" and, hence, is meaningless. I believe the YS is a drive spec'd for RAID usage (higher MTBF?). There are YR and YS drives. Both are RAID and have TLER and NCQ ENABLED by default (and 5 yr warranties). I think the (Y...

Cell has a PowerPC uProc core, with SPEs that use a proprietary ISA, so you're limited in the OS's you can run. For most everone, it would be a customized version of Linux. Since the PS3 allows/encourages you to load/run a different OS, there may be something available to run on the PS3 hardware in ...

I'm in the middle of building a positive pressure P180. I'm short on time, though, so progress is slow. I'm using 3 120mm Yate Loon fans on the front panel and that's all, except for the power supply fan. Processor, vid card, and all non-PSU exhausts will be fanless. I'm considering removing the PS...

Mosfets and voltage regulators, don't they need as much cooling nowadays? Or does everyone running tower coolers simply accept the fact that their motherboards will have a sorter life span as a result of insufficient cooling? I put various heatsinks on them. I have some copper swiftechs and some ge...

I have one, and although it works, it has two major drawbacks:
The temp/voltage curve is not adjustable.
It uses PWM - which some fans freak out with.
There are better options, but you could do worse.

so there's not as much reason to choose it over the Nexus, in my opinion. The reason I chose the S-Flex was for the non-sleeve bearing for use in a "blow-up" or "blow-down" orientation. In my experience with sleeve bearing fans, when placed in that orientation they don't sound nearly as good, and t...

Good review, but I was also hoping to see a comparison between Yate-Loon and Nexus, to see if the Nexus' premium price is warranted--I expect it is not. And yeah, it really is a shame that sample variance kills the Nexus ratings. I know my Nexii don't quite live up to my expectations. You can run a PWM DC motor at 1 RPM if you want to. Huge advantage in running a fan slowly. On the downside, many 3-pin fans including Yate Loon/Nexus etc react in a negative way to PWM, including commutator noise, other electrical noise, etc, as mentioned above. This is why PWM fan control is rela...

The D12SL-12 from Nexus and Yate Loon are the best sounding fans I've tried - bar none. In many ways I prefer the YL...
