I just installed this on a stock i5-3570k yesterday. Temps are pretty much the same as in the article and a huge improvement over the stock Intel heatsink. At full load, I'm seeing 60C core temps vs 80C on the intel heatsink, both at full 12V.

Re: Intel DH77KC (ATX) power consumption

Very Interesting. Any comments about the difference in every day performance? I noticed slowdowns on the old machine when multi-tasking - watching netflix while browsing or having multiple browsers open at the same time. This is all gone with the new CPU/mobo. Intel DH77KC (ATX) power consumption

Looking to upgrade my AMD BE2350 based file/terminal server with something faster that will hopefully last for another 3-4 trouble free years. Re: what 2nd hand ULV with USB2 T&L laptops are there?

IBM Thinkpad X31 fits the criteria (~$300-350 used). It has a standard Pentium M. If you want a LV Pentium M, look at Thinkpad X40 or X41, these are smaller, but a touch pricier (~$400 these days) and have a 1.8" hard drive - say goodbye to upgrading. Btw, The TF7050 system in my signature consumes 30W at idle. How is your PSU in comparison to the picoPSU, in terms of power efficiency ? No idea but it is more efficient than a Seasonic S12-380W power supply. If I recall correctly, power consumption went down ~10% when I switched over to the brick.

Re: BE-2350, Merom, or Core 2 Duo in a home server?

If you do go for the BE2350 chip, I'd recommend a different/newer chipset such as the AMD690 or Nvidia 7050. The M2NPV-VM chipset is a bit more power hungry than the newer ones. I believe reviews showed a 5 watt or so difference at idle.

Bios vcore and rmclock are both set at 1.25v. Actual voltage is probably around 1.175V: CPU-Z reports it at 1.168v, speedfan shows 1.17v and Gigabyte's hardware monitor shows 1.80v. It is orthos stable for 1 hour and it's been stable running FAH for 16 hours so far.
