Thermaltake Level 10GT Snow - any experience?

Hello All - I've been reading this site and building silent rigs for several years now, and I have some pretty quiet boxes. For some pretty arcane reasons, my next machine needs to be large, distinctive, and white. It will be a powerful machine primarily for media work and some gaming, and will prob...

My latest quiet rig has a 160GB SSD (Intel's previous generation X-25M). It's a huge improvement both in speed and quiet. I paired it with a slow but quiet WD Greenpower 2TB for bulk storage. I can't emphasize enough how much better this is - especially in areas like boot time. If you took away my S...

Is there a picture anywhere of this modification done? I have a dremel, and I'm not a newbie at case modding, but if it's extensive, I might just go with a P183.

And if ATI 4890 is faster than GTX 260, great - but what is the noise level like?

I have a question here: I had heard that the Solo was somewhat limited in space for full-length video cards, including the GTX 260. Is this not the case? Is it easy to mod if I wanted to put in a long video card, maybe even a GTX 295?

Has anybody got the 216 shader version of the 260 yet? I'm thinking that since it's about halfway between the regular 260 and the 280, it might be noiser but more powerful. OTOH, it may still be below the threshold for quiet, which appears to be the fan ramp-up temperature of 78C. Can anybody confir...

After you read, you will see how much the P182 sucks when used with powerful cards. And it is not the airflow. For what you will see I've tried every configuration possible, and Imade great and clean cable routing on it. Making or working a better airflow in this case is simply not possible. Lookin...

Sounds like you need to work on the airflow in your case. I cool the upper chamber in my P182 with a single 120mm fan @ ~700RPM. The bottom chamber is cooled by a single 120mm @ ~450RPM. That's it. Idle temps on both CPU and GPU are around 40-50C with a room temp of about 23C. The 8800GTX is hotter...

why didn't you try a low speed fan on the HR-03? i've got a 9600GT. the stock cooler kept the card around 44-46C during idle. well, all fine and dandy, but the Accelero S1 Rev 2 that i put on dropped the temp of the card to 39-40C, and the system did not warm up. (that only means you had your HR-03...

Resolved: use stock coolers on nVidia cards

Hello All - Just wanted to share a piece of wisdom that a few here have also noticed: for the most part, this mucking around with specialized video coolers is not only a waste of time and money, it can actually make the situation much worse. I have a machine with an nVidia 8800GTX (G80) in it. This ...

Hello, Al-Qaeda came out of Afganistan -- and we the USA supported (created?) Osama bin Laden. Al-Qaeda has nothing to do with Iraq, or the first Gulf War. And some of us predicted that George W. Airshark I don't disagree with everything you say, just most of it. Re: The answer without a question

I have seen a lot of these "war is not the answer" signs lately, (what can I expect, living in Washington...) and I allways wonder what the question is. It seems that it would be logical to define the question before deciding what isn't an answer. Any help would be appreciated. It means that both s...

Have you considered rotating your CPU HSF 90 degrees and blowing out the top instead of out the back? With a 200mm exhaust, I suspect you could tape up the rear port entirely. Alternately, you could use sheet styrene to physically separate your CPU HSF from you GPU, and vent it out the rear exhaust,...

That 1%-for-1% is an obvious typo. It says later in the article that the performance is 20-50% better for only about 10% more power than Penryn.

Can you comment on the Cosmos-S cable routing? The old Cosmos 1000 had serious problems getting the back panel closed if you used one of the routing holes, as there was no clearance in the back for cables. Does yours fit cleanly (i.e. have they moved the mobo tray in half an inch or so)? I was all s...

I think you're being a bit too conservative in your estimates of power draw. The TDP on a QX9650 is 130W, the documentation for the 8800GTS-512 says 150W each. But it does look like the 620W can handle this system, even stressed, making me wonder about the upcoming HX1000. I know most systems are va...

Big Corsair PSUs

Can anybody comment about the relative noise level of Corsair's big PSUs, i.e. the 750W+ models? I have two HX620s and an HX520, and I'm very pleased - but I'm building a "quieter" system that has a lot of performance parts, including a QX9650, 4GB of RAM, and a pair of 8800GTS-512s in SLI. HX620 mi...
