Cloneman, at least one AMD laptop has this problem. My two week old Compaq V3307AU whines like a *****. Interestingly though, it only does when I select "high performance". The low power modes actually eliminate the noise!

BTW, the power supply... Here in OZ, the 430w model (my initial choice), is pretty thin on the ground i.e about five stockists in the whole country! I was only able to get it online, and after delivery costs were factored in the price difference between it and the 550w was only $50AUD. That, plus th...

StonyC - Cheers :D Shaman - The front fan is to ensure air gets to the video card, as the GFX fan is disconected. The passive GFX heatsink.. I like it! SebRad -   I know. It really is quite dangerously underpowered. Maybe I'll upgrade to redundant hotswappable PSU's :mrgr...

A few months ago I built myself a firebreathing Core 2 Duo system. Flash forward to about three weeks ago and the realization struck me that I was only using it for web browsing! And so, "Tiny", was born... Sempron 2800+ S754 Asus K8V-VM 1Gb Samsung DDR400 7300GS (with fan power detached) Big Typhoo...

So I attacked the fan grilles today. They didn't stand a chance, mwahaha! http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k202/lloyd84/Image054.jpg I soft mounted both fans using cable ties, and also cut two pieces of foam to the same size as the fan frames to sit in between the fans and the case for extra isolat...

The first time it boots it reads the voltages, and then resets. It will also do this most times you change an option ...

My First "Silent" Computer
This is not my first attempt at obtaining silent nirvana. I previously had an Athlon XP 2500+ (OC'ed to 3200+). Man was that thing loud. Four high speed 80mm fans mounted at the front, and one very loud, hot and generic power supply. (Let's not forget the stock HSF, either.) After having used that f...
