i just picked up the MS comfortcurve 2000 and the intellimouse explorer 3.0. the keyboard is pretty quiet, you can hear the keys but its not really click, more of a lower pitched thud, barely even there if you have a little bit of music on. the mouse has no whine and the button clicks are fairly qui...

the 120mm nexus is rated at 1000rpm at 12v. search the archives and there is a post somewhere that gives approximate rpms at all voltages between 5v and 12v for the nexus.

if you need more RPM the yate loon D12SL 120mm is the same fun but with 1350rpm as its top speed.

hmm well since i have a passive video card (radeon 9200) that i don't run too hard (never do any gaming, maybe the most it does is in photoshop or protools), i think maybe opening one slot might help it. i am going to be putting my drives in gel pack enclosures so that will take care of their noise....

pci slot covers: airflow question

I am wondering what it would do to the airflow in my system if i had the pci slots removed. i dont have a front intake fan, just an exhaust and the bottom fan of my PSU. is it better for airflow to have the pci slots open or closed? i am thinking of maybe just having the one below my videocard open....

the orange YL D12 SL fans are pretty cheap, if the noise is really bugging you , it might be worth grabbing a few.

Bottom PSU fan/exhaust 120mm fan: which should have more RPM

I have SS tornado 400w with a YL D12-SL on the bottom and another as exhaust for my SLK3000B.

I am wondering if I should be sure to have the PSU running at lower RPM's than the exhaust so i doesn't intake unnecessary hot air that. Am I right in thinking this? Should it be the other way around?
