Seasonic S12-550w SATA power connector design flaw
I was a very happy owner of the Seasonic S12-550W power supply. It's quiet, seemed to be well built, and a nice black color. :-) So it was running in my PC for a few months and the other week I cracked open my PC to swap out the DVD writer, which is SATA. Then to my horror one of the orange wires co...

What boggles my mind is that the new 775 mounting bracket could be easily modified (without loosing any strength) by Scythe. There's no reason that I can see for the 'arching' on the bracket and it gets right in the way of caps. I think they need to redesign the mounting bracket and take those arche...

Yes I did and it most certainly hits the middle three caps to the left (in the link above), on the opposite side of the CPU from the Northbridge. It wasn't obvious that it hit them until I took the motherboard out because the Ninja mounting clamp did appear to clamp down, but was clearly resting dir...

I use the 550+ in my new PC, and I really like it. The PS is deathly quiet until I put a heavy load on my processors. Then it ramps up enough where I can tell the PSU fan has rev'd up. It's not loud, but it's certainly a noticable increase in noise over idle. Overally I'm quite happy and would recom...

Scythe Ninja Rev B and Asus P5B-Deluxe don't play well
Last week I anxiously built my new Concoe PC which consisted of the Asus P5b Deluxe and the Scythe Ninja rev b with the new mounting hardware. The MB was already in the case, so proceeded to mount the Ninja per the instructions. I fired up my PC and the CPU core temps were about 60c under full load....

Quiet this Raptor!
I'm building a new system and got the Antec Solo Lifestyle case, which offers suspension mountin for HDs. I got my 74GB Raptor and a 500GB WD drive mounted, using their suspension system. While idiling I can't hear either drive, and I can't feel any case vibrations. However, my issue is with the see...

Finally! Too bad though that it will take so long. As I commented elsewhere, I've run into a few sites that list Sept. 26th as their new Ninja in-stock date (or by the 30th). Now I have to wait even longer to build my new system, sigh... Gosh me too! I have my whole system built and waiting on my N...

What do people think about snipping the fan grills on the Antec Solo Lifestyle? They use a honeycomb gril, with pretty minimal metal so the flow appears to be pretty good. Has anyone modded the front of the bezel to allow for better airflow? Such as adding a hole in the front of the bezel, or removi...

True about the color. One site also mentioned shorter leads on the OEM model than the retail version. But certainly something to consider. Given that I'm a couple of months out from building my new PC, I'll wait until the 550s are out and see what kind of price difference there is. In all honesty, t...

Thanks for the link! I didn't realize they made an 80 plus in that size. It looks like that is their OEM model, and one review said the cables aren't as long and it's not finished in black. I'll hold out until retailers start selling the 550 model and see how much the prices vary. Hopefully it will ...

A fellow forum member sent me this link, which looks like a pretty good review of the 650W model. I do look forward to reading a review from this site though..they are always enjoyable!

Seasonic S12-Energy 550 Information?
I'm going to be building a Conroe E6600 PC with the Asus P5W-DH in a couple of months. I was researching power supplies and saw that Seasonic just released a S12-Energy 550 model. It looks great from the specs, but I can't find any online retailer that is selling it. Does anyone have any information...
