Recently bought 4 Seagate 2TB drives ST2000DL003 via two orders and 2 out of 4 where DOA (one for each order). RAID is not for backup, it is just for availability. If you want to be safe, just reschedule your NAS backup more frequently, or have a continuous backup from your pc to your NAS (many nas systems offer some kind of continuous backup or you can use third party software). What I would really invest t...

I second what DanceMan said, but there is no need for bending fins: just screw the fan in the upper right corner. It will help you cool the northbridge and your voltage regulators.
I've been doing this for years (since amd k6-2) and it is way better than any screaming 6cm fans.

Pay attention to the fact that the output of the picoUPS is not regulated. It is clearly stated on the picoUPS page of a reliable Italian online shop specialized in Mini-itx stuff, that you must use it with M1-ATX, M2-ATX, M3-ATX or picoPSU 6-24V, but not with picoPSU 120W. http://www.mini-itx.it/co...

To reduce acetic acid effect you can mix some drops of denatured alcohol in a small cup of silicone sealant.
This will help you reduce the bad small too, but will make it slightly less dense so first experiment to see how much alcohol you need.

Just my two cents.

Some years ago I used silicone sealant to attach heatsinks to some mpeg2 encoding chips that run hotter than I liked with nice results (don't try this with modern small chips).

It won't be affected by warm air.

I bought and installed a Vortex 752 and now that I finished moving to my new house I must say I'm very satisfied with it.

It is easy to install on socket 775 and the original fan with Asus Q Fan on silent mode (fan @ 920 RPM) is indistinguishable to me from two 8cm nexus running at 5V.

Most UPSs need grounding

Hi,

most of the UPSs I've seen require proper grounding, so check before buying one.
I think an EMI filter or two could be enough for your needs.

BTW if you manage to obtain proper grounding from the landlord do yourself a favour and buy a UPS
