Re: Which case: Corsair 550D or Antec P183?
Thank you for your advice, I decided to try the build in the P183. I noticed that the PSU intake for the 550D is at the bottom, since I have thick carpet everywhere, the P183 should work better there. It does look like the 550D is an easier case to work in like you mentioned, but if the P183 can coo...

Which case: Corsair 550D or Antec P183?
Looking for a new mid-range gaming build. I have used P180B, P182 and P183 before and I think it is one the best quality and silent cases I have ever used. The reason I am also considering the Corsair 550D now is that it appears to have somewhat better cooling capacity than the P183. I normally buy ...

Re: Looking for advice on new build, fairly quiet
I have the MSI GTX 660 and MSI GTX 760 and I can attest that both are very quiet. I currently use them in older P180B Antec cases. The P180B appears to handle the TDP well from the GTX 760. However, any higher and it may not be as quiet due to an increased required cooling capacity. The MSI GTX 760 ...

Re: Request to SPCR Plz Review: MSI TriFrozr Lightning gtx 7
I recently bought the MSI GTX 760 Gaming and I can attest that it is very quiet. I have this card in an older P180B case but it never exceeded 74C in there and the fans just barely ramped up from idle. You can set a custom fan profile with MSI afterburner but I think the BIOS is very well adjusted f...

Re: Got the seasonic SS-660XP
You have definitely tried more Seasonic models than me. I have always gotten Seasonic made PSU's and only one had coil whine bad enough that I felt I needed to replace it. However, I did not observe this coil whine when I had a GTX 550, only when I upgraded to a GTX 660 it started to do that and I c...

Re: Got the seasonic SS-660XP
I did a test again with my computer under full load. I ran prime95 and the rhtdrbl tool which load both the CPU and GPU and I can hear only a faint trace of high pitched noise when I place my ear right next to the PSU. This is the same trace I heard when I am idle in Windows, there is no buzzing. Wh...

Re: Got the seasonic SS-660XP
Hi, I just upgraded my old Seasonic S12-430 with the Seasonic SS-660XP and it is very quiet. I listened with my ear next to the unit and in Windows I hear no noise at all. I have a MSI GTX 660 (which is also very quiet) and when I run the Windows Experience Index with the Direct3D tests, I can hear ...

Re: Electronic Noise and Tinnitus
This is an interesting article on tinnitus and I think it is great that silentpcreview chose to write about it! There is some research I wanted to point out that helped me tremendously as someone who suffered pretty badly from tinnitus only a couple years ago. I was told to "live with it" and that t...

Hi, That is a nice build! I like how you used the 2.5" drives, are these still hard mounted to the case since you mention you found them to be quiet enough? The reason I ask is that a year and a half ago I built a MythTV system using the Silverstone LC20 and the biggest issue I have had is the noise...
