I am looking replacement for my 7900gs Sli system. I want to upgrade faster single card system I could get some 8800 GTS cards ( 320 mb GDDR3 320 bit ) from 279 to 309 €'s while HD 2900pro ( 512mb GDDR3 512bit ) is 250 to 290 €'s So when looking price and memory HD2900 pro seems to be a winner ...

WD3200KS now my loudest part?

After installing my coolermaster hyper tx 2, it seems like by far my loudest part is a wd3200ks. Aside from those two, the only other noise-making components in my system are a yate loon d12sl-12, an hx520, and an ASUS x1950pro. The yate loon and Hyper TX both run at 50% (controlled by speedfan) mos...

Undervolting my Coolermaster Hyper TX 2

I recently picked up the Coolermaster Hyper TX 2 for $20 AR at newegg and have been somewhat pleased with its performance. It's definitely much more effective at cooling but the way I have it set up now (plugged into a case fan header with Q-Fan on silent) it's not as quiet as I would hope. I tried ...

@ Palindroman: If I use RM Clock to undervolt, does it matter what I set the voltage at in the BIOS? Will RM Clock just override whatever that setting is? Also, with regards to power usage and heat production, is voltage the only factor or does clock speed make a difference? If I have my CPU running...

If you're not looking to spend much, you could try the Cooler Master Hyper TX 2. From what I've read, it's very similar to the Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 Pro. Also, if you want to get the Scythe Mine, xoxide.com has an open box one for $20 plus shipping.

Alright, well that seems pretty straightforward. What would be a good starting voltage to try? I think my mobo voltage control goes down to maybe 1.15 or so. Also, what stress tests should I be running. I've heard that orthos is good, and lm mentioned prime95 and memtest86.

e6600 undervolting...

I'm pretty new to the whole overclocking/undervolting, etc. scene so I'm not quite sure how one would go about doing either - undervolting in particular. Is it as simple as going into my BIOS, selecting a lower voltage, and then running some stress tests to see if it's stable? I was just looking at ...

Well, if the TX 2 were in stock at newegg, I would definitely jump on that, but unfortunately everywhere else it's going to be about 30 dollars shipped. I can get the freezer 7 pro for only $22 shipped from ewiz. From some of the reviews you linked, it seems like they're very very similar, with the ...

Re: Scythe Mine vs. Katana 2

Since the Mine most likely will not fit my motherboard, does anyone have other recommendations for quality coolers that might? Cooler Master Hyper Tx (or Tx 2, which has universal mounting): - it cools better than the others discussed so far above. - It has a relativey small footprint. - light weig...

Re: Scythe Mine vs. Katana 2

Okay now you're just confusing me. I meant that perhaps the mechanism for the Mine is different in rev. B. When you say there's an optional mounting kit for Rev B are you talking about the Mine or Ninja? On a side note, do you know what the differences between the Mine rev A and B are? I believe th...

Re: Scythe Mine vs. Katana 2

Judging by this installation manual , the mechanism seems different from the Ninja. Perhaps it's different in the rev. B model? Ninja Rev B is completely different for LGA775; I’ve owned both and much preferred Rev A. There is an optional mounting kit for the Rev B which looks a lot better but Iâ...

Re: Scythe Mine vs. Katana 2

I've been looking into a replacement for my stock intel cooler for a while now and these two seem to be the most suitable for my needs. Only five dollars (orange version) with free shipping! I tried choosing next day air and as far as I can tell it's still free. From what I've seen, this is the best deal for yate loons on the internet if you're only getting one or two

Well the reason that I'm concerned about the air intake on those pipes is that they're specifically designed to take advantage of air from the CPU cooler. Yeah, I take your point about running the cooler at a lower RPM, but if I'm spending money on a new cooler, I'd really prefer to spend the money...

I have a similar rig (SOLO, e6600 w/ stock HSF, p5b-e) and seem to have lower temps than you. I keep the tricool exhaust on low and use Q-Fan to control the CPU fan, which runs at about 850rpm while idling/basic stuff like firefox + itunes. Exhaust duct for ASUS x1950pro - would it help?

I've got this graphics card and have been fairly pleased with it. It takes up two slots so I've always found it odd that they didn't just duct the cooler all the way to the rear. The other day I was wondering if making such a duct would help at all. It would simply wrap around the heatsink and duct ...

Software control other than Q-Fan

I've got a P5B-E with the stock Intel HSF and am currently using Asus' Q-Fan to manage its speed. While it's on, the fan runs at around 900rpm and doesn't really change in speed as temperature goes up. This is not a problem in normal use but when I start gaming, the CPU temperature occasionally hits...

I'm running the stock HSF so thermal grease shouldn't be a problem. Noise with the fan on medium is acceptable and very quiet when its on low.
