A little late for a reply, but I am using the Thermalright XP-90C with the Asus P5W DH Deluxe inside of a Silverstone GD01 HTPC case. While the CPU cooler does require their LGA775 RM adapter bracket, it has no problem fitting the board and the case, and seems to be effective with a quiet fan.

Should a PSU pull air from inside of the case or outside?

I've read in places that the PSU fan pulling air from the inside of the case is an important part of cooling the PC. I have also read articles where people make ducts so that the PSU can get fresh air instead of heated air, there by not letting the PSU act as a vent for air heated by the various chi...

Need motherboard for E6600. Taming fan & cpu voltages is

Hi, I have been building a media PC that will drive my stereo system in my bedroom. Silence is my main concern since I sleep in the room. I also listen to music at low volume levels and don't want to hear the computer. At times I use the computer for video editing, so some power is needed. More ofte...

Heatsink for Gigabyte GA-965P-DQ6 in a HTPC case

Hi, I am looking for a heatsink that will fit on a GA-965P-DQ6 that will sit in a Silverstone GD01 case. The GD01 is pretty big for a HTPC case, but I still can't use anything really tall. More of a problem is all of the cooling pipes and the crazy-cool back plate of the GQ6. I would like to find a ...

I own a Silverstone GD-01MX, which looks to be about the same size as the LC-16 case. I am using a Thermalright XP90-C, but it requires a special adapter bracket to work with the 775 sockets. I would have chosen the Thermalright XP120, but it would not work with my motherboard. My motherboard allows...

I have the same case
Hi,

How do you like the case? Are the included fans quiet? Many people have expressed disapointment in the Lascala LC-20 when it comes to putting the components into the case. Did you find that the GD-01 had problems in this regard?

Thanks,
Alan

CPU heatsink for a Silverstone HTPC case

Hi, I am considering buying the relatively new Silverstone Grandia GD01 htpc case. I currently have a Scythe Mine CPU cooler, which has a height of 150mm. The Silverstone GD01 has a total height of 170mm. Does anyone know if the Scythe mine will fit into a HTPc case? If not, what would be a good rec...

Hello & welcome to SPCR! Yes, the stock PS is slightly noisier than a SeaSonic S12. You will want to look at the threads on improving the front air intake on the Sonata -- this is the weak point of that case. Hi and thank you for your response. I gather you are referring to the threads where people...

A couple of questions regarding quieting an Antec Sonata I

Hi, I have been attempting to get my Antec Sonata I more quiet so that I can use it as a music server in the same room as my stereo. I do a lot of low volume late-night listening and fan noise is a bit of a problem. I am using an Abit AV8 with an Athlon 64 cpu. So far I have replaced the cpu cooler ...
