Having a Solo case, I can tell you that it does matter which one you use. The small screws don't actually fit the standoffs. They're actually just enough smaller that they can pull out of the standoffs, but not enough smaller for it to be easy doing so. So if you put the small screws in, it's nearly...

The top 92mm fan location on a solo will only fit a 92mm fan. The holes are located right up at the top of the door they're on. The bottom fan location does have about 4mm of space all around, so you should be able to fit a 100mm fan on the bottom. Not sure it's worth it to stick different fans at t...

Thanks for the rapid reply...some follow up q's... a) driver suspension -- why wouldn't it work? is it that the bungee cords won't hold the drive? b) re: extra feet - yes. c) Raptor -- I was thinkingof putting them in one of those copper thingies...unless you think I should head towards a different...

You can't suspend the hard drives when it's on it's side. The front intakes on the right side will also probably end up blocked. You'll also need to put on extra feet on the right side. I don't see any other problems with it being on it's side though. As far as your system goes, I doubt the Raptor w...

The PWM wire carries a high frequency signal with a duty cycle between 0 and 100%. The voltage the fan motor recieves is modulated by this signal. This is done so that the RPM sensor doesn't have a modulated voltage signal, which could screw the results. So the PWM overrides the 12V? Can't I just p...

Errr... The OP is right, almost no shipping sound cards can send 5.1 over digital from games. This is because most sound cards aren't capable of doing the encoding, because 5.1 is a compressed format when done over digital. Sound cards which can output dynamically generated 5.1 over SPDIF are marked...

It's a part of the MB and BIOS. The hardware portion of it can also be controlled from windows using a program called Speedfan. The BIOS just has 3 options, IIRC: one where it remains quiet pretty much all the time, one where the fans spin near full speed, and one where the fans vary based on temp. ...
