So I have installed the Sapphire GDDR4 version and I must say I am very impressed with the noise levels. Under FAH load the AC cooler runs at 50% (GPU temp 61C) and is less audible than the Nexus 80mm chassis fans at 1000 rpm. The 3D performance is so much better than what I'm used to so I'm very ha...

Yes, I read his post with great interest. The question implied in my last post was whether I would benefit from moving the VF900 to the new card, but I now understand that the AC cooler won't add much noise to the system.

I just ordered an HD4670 as an upgrade for my HTPC (small Lian Li box). The card is the Sapphire version with GDDR4 and AC cooling (large fan), and will be replacing an X850XT-PE with a Zalman VF900 cooler. Any ideas how this upgrade will affect the noise? I've been running the VF900 at 13% fan spee...

I'm considering replacing the X850XT-PE in my HTPC with a 4670, no point in waiting for these new cards I guess. Exactly what do you mean? The 4670 and RV740 performs quite different. And what's the problem with the length? It's not that long, and definitely shorter than a ATX board. From the previ...

Too bad the reference PCB is so much larger than 4670/4650. I'm considering replacing the X850XT-PE in my HTPC with a 4670, no point in waiting for these new cards I guess.

The FAH project is a basic (or strategic) research program. The objective is to gain knowledge on the behaviour of key components of the human body on a molecular level. The results will most likely contribute to the basis of future applied medical research on cures and prevention of cancer and othe...

It's got a ticking sound even at 5V. Useless imo.

Lots of Big Typhoon (and other) reviews here: http://www.techpowerup.com/reviewdb/Cooling/Air/Thermaltake?order=name Used a VX 120 on a Prescott with 115W TPD, kept load temps in the 60ies even at low fan speed (1300rpm) and was reasonably quiet. You can also reverse the fan and duct the hot air out...

Did anything come out of this initiative? Got an "old" XPS Gen4 that was very noisy as-delivered. I removed a baffle in the CPU shroud and reversed one of the rear fans servicing the CPU heatsink, so that both rear 90mm fans blow out of the case (recommended at DellTalk). The noise became bearable w...
