A 4670 is not overkill. My son plays with a 4670 on a 1600x1050 monitor and can't max out all the settings. He doesn't play the latest games either. I would actually suggest a 5750 or 5770 card. HDMI is only needed if you also want to carry audio on the same cable, otherwise, DVI is all you need. A...

Re: Which NAS to buy?

I'm looking for a NAS that has a gigabit connection, torrent support, and at least 2 bays with RAID 1 support. A decent web interface would be nice, but not an absolute necessity. I'll be streaming 1080p videos through this so I'd like for it to be decently fast as well. Oh yes, it must be quiet . ...

Is WD15EADS best for my needs?

Hello! I'm planning on storage upgrade and so far, WD's WD15EADS (Caviar Green, 1.5TB) seems like a best deal out there. It will be exclusively used as a storage HDD with just one partition and OUT of the computer inside an Icybox case. I will connect it to the computer couple of times a week, the r...

8800GTS 512 (that's the G92 512MB version, not the crappy 320 or 640MB) is an awesome card. I'm really happy with it and have enjoyed Mass Effect, The Witcher, Fallout 3, etc. with it on 1680x1050 with almost everything on the max (see sys specs in the sig). If you're budget is tight, then getting t...

look at my specs in the sig.
My plan is to keep this baby running for a looooong looong time.
I've maxed out on RAM (8GB DD2@800MHz), the next thing will be E6600 -> Q9650 which the max for my board.
I'm just waiting for the price to drop significantly and I'm in no hurry.

Hi, I upgraded from E6600 to a Q9400 and I think the Quad is cooler than the E! At least with the E6600 @ 9x333 = 3GHz I got similar temps under load to what the Q9400 @ 8x400 = 3.2GHz gets with the same cooler. (BTF-90 "butterfly") With Folding@home SMP load I can easily keep the CPU temps 50-60°...

If it helps, I've just upgraded my E6700 to the Q9550 (which should have simular heat profiles to the Q9650). I've got the same heatsink and with the stock fan (1200rpm) I've got fully loaded temps of 53c 48c 52c 52c across the cores. I'm also overclocked to 3.4GHz. So you'll have nooooooo problem!...

Question about cooling Core 2 Quad Q9650

Hi! My computer specs are in the sig. When the price of Q9650 drops significantly I plan to upgrade my P5B Deluxe with it (replacing my current E6600). Currently, the E6600 is being cooled by Scythe Ninja SCNJ-1000, this one: http://www.silentpcreview.com/article251-page1.html Will this cooler be en...

Re: when xbox 360 ps3 slim 45nm RROD

While I am tempted to buy an xbox 360, the RROD is obviously a huge reason to not do so. THe promised 3 year warranty doesn't offer me much. I decided in the beginning of the year to get an XBOX360. I've read thoroughly through many articles, user testimonies, etc. And then I've read this: http://w...

A 24" one. 22" will give you 1680x1050 which you could also get on a 20" display. I'd go for the 20" given the choice of those two. The trouble then is that 1680x1050 is a strange resolution and is poorly supported in a lot of games, this is why I'd go for a 24" at 1920x1200. I have a Samsun...
