Re: First Review of the Intel 320 Series 300GB SSD

I just picked up an Intel 320, 120Gb. The drive is perfect for me, just what I needed :)

Here's CrystalDiskMark test, if anyone wants to know:

I'm running Core 2 Duo, E6600 (2.4 GHz). SSD is connected on ICH7R. Win 7 x64 Professional.

Re: 2011 SSD pricing (for drives >= Intel G2 X-25V 40GB perf

As it seems, the prices are almost the same in Singapore as they are in Croatia...

Intel 320 series 80gb drive ~260 SGD
Intel 320 series 120gb drive ~315 SGD

Re: 2011 SSD pricing (for drives >= Intel G2 X-25V 40GB perf

Well, here in Croatia Intel 320 80Gb SSD sells for about 163€ (~243$).
I don't know yet prices in Singapore, so I've been searching for computers stores where I can look-up prices online, before I go :)

So, if anyone knows computer store with prices on the web site, I'd appreciate it :)

Yes.
Ah....it's a shame then. Why even use 4K sectors if OS can't see it...
Thx anyway!

I'd recommend the drive with the lowest acces time. I think that's WD 640GB with about 12.5ms (random acces time). 320GB version has much higher RAT (about 16ms).

I don't know about Samsung 320/640GB drives, but I'd guess they're about 13-14ms....

I don't think that they have problem with 320gb model, especially after they proved that they can produce 640gb model with low access time. If you're asking me, the thing with 320gb model is in drive's firmware. It's slowing drive's heads on purpose so heads are moving smoothly. The same impact has ...

Cache difference doesn't mean that much at all. Benefit of having 32mb cache instead of 16mb is only when you're working with big files (read and write). And that's it. So I wouldn't bother that much about cache, it's almost all marketing strategy. As far as concern 320gb drive, I bet you wouldn't f...
