I just clicked the link in the first post, got to the Intel web site and it said
"This download is no longer available"

Presumably the download did something bad and intel withdrew it.

In general a single heat source is easier to deal with.
Which do you prefer a single large heatsink plus large fan or 5 heatsinks and 5 fans

Add a fan - take side of your case and use a desk fan, you will then know if the problem is temperature related.

This PSU appears to depend upon air movement within the case, hence all the holes.
If the POS was mounted externally, for example on the top of a PC case would it overheat, or would it still be capable of delivering 450/400W ?

Sounds like my PC, which has a static problem. Every 2 weeks or so, the mouse/keybord stops responding. 2 solutions Use a PS2 mouse/keybord instead of a USB or turn off the PSU but keep it plugged in, then hold in the power switch on the front of the PC for 10 seconds. It then works for another 15 d...

Hybrid drive = a normal drive + a small Solid State Drive
Effectivly a normal drive with a giant cache

So instead of 100GB + 16Mbyte cache, you get 100GB + 1 GByte cache

The 'integrated heat spreader' is only a fraction of a mm thick, I can not believe that it really does spread the heat.
In conventional heat sinks a thick base was considered good, but a very thin base HS, has a much thicker heat spreader than the 'integrated heat spreader'

I do not think it is difficult, get an SLI bord, put in 2 graphics cards from the same manufacturer, set the cards to work in non-sli mode. This gives 4 monitor capability. SLI bords are not SLI-only you can still use 2 independant graphics xards. If you want to stick with Martrox then they have a 5...

Why bother having a case at all. You seem happy to have a pile of components lying on the floor, so remove the case to give the PSU a bit more air and you are finished.

Regular heatpipes work very well, the difficult part is dissipating the heat, not moving the heat 15cm from the CPU.
A super-heatpipe does not achieve anything useful, a super-radiator is what is wanted.

Almost all HPs do use water. Yes the tubes can be made really small, but then very little water will be sucked through them. 0.2mm tubes will raise water by 14cm, but very little water can flow through a 0.2mm tube. Very little water flow means the HP provides very little cooling. http://en.wikipedi...

If we go back to the original example a good example is people with long jeans that touch the floor, if they stand in a puddle, the water will seep into the jeans upwards against gravity The water will rise a short way up the jeans, but will not reach the top. Heat pipes are a lot more efficient if the hot end is below the cold end, but they still do something if they are upside down.
A 6mm HP will conduct 20W, so if 3 HPs are the right way up, the other HPs are not needed.
