I am upgrading my processor to a X2 6000+ and I need a AM2 cooler that will blow air to the rear case fan and not at the power supply.

Any suggestions?

I killed a nforce 4 southbridge by running it hot for several months. I couldn't stand that teeny little whiny fan that asus liked to put on their socket 939 boards in those days.

How well does that Mine fit? I have (almost) the exact same processor (4000+) and mobo (690G) and I am looking to replace the stock cooler.

Neither, get a HD3650. Less power draw, less heat, and better image quality.

The GA-MA69G-S3H that I have, which is the full ATX version of the board you have, exhibits this same behavior. The Yate Loon 120mm I have hooked up runs at 1500(ish) rpm no matter what I do.

You might want to try one of those new Scythe fans, the Noctua's aren't exactly known to flow a lot of air.

Thats the 1200rpm model, they also have a 500rpm and a 1600rpm model.

I just built a rig for college with a X2 4000+, and the cooler is amazingly quiet. With both cores fully loaded with two instances of CPUburn, the proc stabilizes at 42C with the fan at around 2000 rpm. At that speed, there is a bit of motor noise, but its drowned out by the rest of my system (HX420...

But the real question is.....

can it cool a Pentium 4?

Word on the street is that the newer 1 gig GDDR4 2900XT is pretty killer.

Like above 8800GTX level.

Though, it is EXTREMELY loud.

The 2400 looks like a damn good card for just watching video, HD or not.

There is one benefit of going the 8600 route... it can decode HD DVDs in hardware, while the 8800 does not. Just something to consider if that matters to you. That was what I was thinking. I would use it to cool a Pentium M or a low powered Core Duo or something. Looks too tall for a HTPC though.

Just installed the system in it's corner: Hum-m-m-m :-( The place it's in seems to resonate with some noise source from the case. Unplugged the harddisk, hum gone. So much for the vibration dampers on the NSK3400, and maybe even the noiselessness of the Samsung SpinPoint T166 HD501LJ.. Samsungs see...

How long does it take to complete a step (%) I put an old pIII laptop to work under XP and it takes about 1.5 hour for one step... It takes around 2 hours to complete a step....
