Re: Xeon E3-1230 V2

Personally i would go with server board with xeon cpu, but that just me, supermicro and tyan would be my top pics for it. If you want a none server board that has on board audio and that supports xeon, that will also allow to use the built in GPU (like P3000 on the Xeon e3-1235) is the ASUS P8B WS ...

Re: Xeon E3-1230 V2

I didn't in any way claim that Xeons are inferior to consumer Core i CPUs. In fact I believe it's quite the contrary. I was merely questioning the prudence in pairing a workstation/server CPU with a consumer motherboard since you (to a certain extent) lose out on the strengths of the Xeon CPU, namel...

Re: Xeon E3-1230 V2

I'm not sure why you would want to look at an Ivy Bridge-based Xeon and then pair it with a consumer motherboard. You'll lose the features that differentiate the Xeon series from the regular Core i series, namely ECC memory support. You might as well go for the equivalent consumer version. Of course...

I contacted Lian Li about the missing dust filters and also the cheap feet (unlike the originally shown "hifi-type" feet) on the PC-B10. I was told that all these things were rectified in models manufactured after August 2009. Hope that helps. By the way, I actually find the PC-P50 very intriguing a...

<OT> I know, but I don't really like any of them except for the new X1000. And that one would rock with an added door. Mailed Lian Li about it and they'll look into it. In the mean time I'm contemplating the Lancool K56. I've this idea that it could be quiet with the mesh front if there's no front f...

Great looking case with one serious flaw (for me). With a depth of about 65 cm it's about 15 cm too deep for me. :( Not sure where you got that number, but the FT02 will be about 61.6cm deep. Sorry, this is still too deep for you. :( I stand corrected! Don't know where I read about the 65 cm. :oops...

PSU placement in case

Of late the PSU mounting position has moved from the top to the bottom in many cases. A trend that probably started with the Antec P180. My question is fairly simple, although the answer(s) might not be: How important for cooling, noise and so forth is the bottom PSU mounting position in a case? Is ...

Thanks for the suggestion! Ideally, one would get a "spare" P182 top panel and use that instead, but when is anything really ideal. :)

Hi, Putting the fans in the middle is (IMO) the right thing acoustically, but it does increase the length... I do plan an shorter version with 2 x 140mm fans close to the front, and that would be well over 5 cm shorter. The front door opens along either of the long edges - the top (in RackMount/Des...
