I did the 7 volt trick for Nexus and it became virtually silent. The airflow dropped too, now the mainboard idle temps are at 40-41 C degrees. But I guess it's not a problem.

I did the 7 volt trick for Nexus, not changing the wirings of ZM-MC1, but Nexus' itself. It was far easier that way, just swap the 5V and GND wires between the male and female Molex connectors that are connected with Nexus. What I did is exactly as shown at http://www.cpemma.co.uk/7volt.html . The g...

RPM sensing will not work at all with the "7V trick", even if you connect the third wire to the motherboard header. This is because the sensor circuit compares the tach input signal to ground, but the fan is running 7V above ground, and the speed always reads as zero. For about $10, there are sever...

After replacing the Asus driver for 7600gs with nVidia's driver both RivaTuner and nVidia's control panel are showing temperatures that are 20 degrees lower than with Asus' drivers (now: idle 58C, load 86C). I'm willing to believe these lower temps are right. 86C degrees is still high but at ...

I was able to get the temps both using RivaTuner or nVidia's own display drivers. Boy, is this fanless 7600GS running hot. After having the PC on for couple hours the GPU idle temps were 78 C. And running rthdribl for 20 minutes jumped the temps to 105 C. You could boil water in that tempereture! I ...

7 volt trick?

Being adviced by SPCR article http://www.silentpcreview.com/article6-page1.html I thought I would like to try the 7 volt trick for Nexus to make it completely silent while still blowing same amount of air that the TriCool is now doing. This article discusses about black and red fan wires. But my fan...

Re: Antec Tri-cool vs. Nexus 120mm

I bought three Nexus 120mm fans thinking they'd be quieter than the Antec Tricools that came with my P180B, which were already pretty quiet, and I found I'd have to undervolt the Nexus fans to make them quieter than the Tricools on low speed. I agree with you. I also bought a Nexus thinking it woul...

In my old system I have GeForce MX something, quite old and very slow card. SpeedFan does detect that, so I was kind of expecting it to detect the gfx card also in my new system. But apparently this is common issue. Does the ATI tool work also for GeForce? Oh, by the way, that 3 degrees Celcius in A...

Just built my new (my first "quiet") PC inside Antec's P150. I bought the case from a local store (not so big) this week and I was quite disappointed when I found that the case had been manufactured in December 2005. Problems with the PSU ahead... and my motherboard is Asus too (P5L-VM 1394). Also, ...

I got a reply from Antec that NSK3400 will be available in Europe late February/early March time frame. But no info about the PSU which I tried to ask as well.

It looks that the new NSK3400 has same size as NSK3300. Take a look at these pictures: ._________ http://www.antec.com/images/400/NSK3300_i.jpg http://media.bestofmicro.com/J/A/5878/3/5878.jpg Upper is NSK3300 (image from Antec's website), the lower is the NSK3400 (image from the French site www.pre...
