im sittin here with my heat on, a nice comfy room temp, a bit on the hot side, in shorts and short sleeves.

Thanks - I'll look for a faster fan. I have seen some in the 24dBA range. I'm unsure how noisy that actually is. My case is a "silent" case, with foam padding inside it, but the exhaust fan will be blowing straight out the back, so if anything will make a noise this fan will. you can try it. but if...

Do you think an 800rpm 120mm exhaust fan will move the heat sufficiently? I've found one which is 16dBA - the quietest I can find, here: http://www.ascent.co.nz/productspecification.aspx?ItemID=349586 800rpm is quite a bit slower than others, but being 120mm it should shift enough air. Do you agree...

i added a fourth fan to my p180 - a 120mm in front of the middle hard drive cage. i decided to turn it off after a few weeks to see if i noticed any difference in noise. what i did notice is absolutely no difference in temps. what made a difference in my temps is kicking up the rpm's of the exhaust ...

you can use the TT bolt thru kit wiht the ninja. feels solid as a rock now. i did it here: http://athos.smugmug.com/photos/131031277-L.jpg i would use washers to increase the pressure as i did between the springs and the mounting clip - or put some between the backplate and the back of the mobo (lik...

bonestonne, i just want to tell you taht you rock.

i kicked up my voltage to 1.38 and have temps close on idle to what i had at 1.31 on my cores - after 5 minutes of orthos i am at 63/60 cores

still not amazing but nice.

1.35 volts at 3.25ghz and with 5 minutes orthos so far - TAT cores are 60-58 instead of 65-63 (though i need to let this run another 20 minutes to really compare) also TCase temp is 52 from 59, again i have to give this more time. time to try higher oc'ing 2morra :) and that crazy thermal grease i l...

both on medium made a difference of 4c Idle on the Tcase temps on the cores they went down to 44/42 on idle - a gain of 4c. not bad. i will dremel these fan guards away as i would prefer to run at least one on low for the noise value. thanks for the advice. in the meantime, is there a better heatsin...

late last year i ordered a new rig. its in my sig! however, the first mobo was an asus p5n-e sli. i ordered almost everything from zipzoom, over a grand. which is not much for them, but a decent order. my p5n gave me issues. i knew it said exchange for same item only, but i wanted to go to an intel ...

dont regret getting your e6400. it isnt about the 6600 or 6400 it is more about individual chips variance. i can get my 6400 to 3.2 at stock voltage orthos stable. i can get to 3.6 at 1.4 volts and run super.pi - just a bit more voltage and i am orthos stable. all i need is better cooling which is o...

however, i am glad the p182 was not available last month - cause i went and bought a dremel to do it myself. this little tool is fun stuff :)
