Re: Best fans for my corsair 550d silent pc build

I just ordered a 550D and I'm also decided on what fans to get.

I was thinking gentle typhoons for the fronts since they're be starved for air, though there are conflicting reports that the newer batches of these aren't as quiet as they used to be.

That's too bad, I love my NF7-S and IP35-Pro. Still think the NF7-S was the best mobo ever made, still kickin' after 8 years of 24/7 overclocked to the max, though same goes for my barton 2500+.

Actually the case already has rubber grommets for the fan screws. So the fan frame doesn't make contact with the case....i think. I like that Ryan Norton guys idea but i really don't want to have to drill out the 3.5 drive rails. The case was expensive. But i dont think theres going to be many ways ...

Hmm. I initially thought about it but the case is REALLY tight. I'll have grab some of the magic stretch or something and see if i can get it to fit

Quieting lian-li

Hey guys, The honeymoon is over with my Lian-Li A05 now that its 15ft away from my bed. Even when I'm at my desk (it on the desk now) I can hear all sorts of weird high feq noise that I'm pretty sure are HDD related. The HDD noise was fine in my SLK3700 case so its gotta be the aluminum. Plus they'r...

nice review. I actually just ordered an A05 myself and I'm in the process of deciding what fans to get. I was just wondering if you were using the mesh fan grill that came with the case or not. I'd assume not but I'd like to be sure. I'm on the fence between Ultra Kaze and Slip Stream for the rear f...

Damping Supplies in Canada

Does anyone know any sites that are in or ship to Canada? I'm looking to find some butyl rubber type stuff like edead and some sort of foam to go over top. Planning on getting a Lian-Li A05b and would like to make it reasonably quiet as possible with out spending too much. I'm gonna go with Scythe S...

You might want to think about getting an e6300 or e6400. You'll save some cash and both can get you pretty close, if not to 3GHz. You'd probably be better off with the e6400 over the e6300 if you dont want to overclock AS much and still save some money. Another option to consider for the psu would b...

I think you've made a great choice for a motherboard. I'm a big fan of Abit. I had to get my NF7-S replaced (arguably my fault) and they're eRMA system is really great. I've never had a better experience with customer service. And while they're boards are geared more to overclockers, thats a good th...

^ Agreed. Spend a bit more now and not only will you have a better gaming experience, but once you upgrade your system and move to PCI-E you'll have a decent cpu/mobo/vid combo for a HTPC or second gaming rig(if you go to lans or something, you can cram it into a real small/light weight case). I'd s...

I have the XFX 7950GT Extreme and so far its excellent. I've only played CSS on it so far, since theres no good games out the last couple of weeks.

I'm just nervous about whether the scythe ninja and thermalrite hr-05-sli i ordered yesterday will fit with the xfx on my DFI Ultra-D :?

That would not run very well on either of those games. Maybe CCS if you jack the settings down really low, but then at that point you'd be better off with CS1.6

thats true. But if they are better i might as well since i will probably replace my psu later on when i've got more money to throw arround. The plan rihgt now its to have a front and rear case fan and a fan on the ninja. Then depending on the temps i might remove the rear fan. I am overclocking the ...

Jab-tech does ship to canada and the D12SL-12 are on sale for $3.50USD which is pretty good. It'll cost me a bit more so are the yates significantly better? Thanks *edit* they have to hr-05-sli for a decient price too... I think this might be the best way to go unless i can find yate loons for sale ...

the coolermasters are pretty cheap. They're $5.40CAN which is really cheap compared to $25-35 for thoes brand name silent fans (nexus, etc). I'll have to see if i can get Yate Loons shipped here for cheap, i'm not too concerned about the leds since i definatly wont be modding on a window this time.

no advice for me? how sad  I changed my mind about the HR-05-SLI... I can get the evercool vc-re for $9.60CAN vs $29.99. I'm sorta on the fence because i am overclocking and my nforce4 is running at 1.6v i believe and the default is 1.5. I'm just not sure the ervercool is good enough to stay co...
