Re: Nanoxia DS5 Z170 system + i7-6700K + GTX970
Welcome to SPCR! Very clean build. Did you try it without the foam? -I find foam's acoustic dampening qualities in PC builds are mostly a placebo. Thank you, though I'm not exactly new here, just not a regular poster;-) I did not do any A/B testing without the foam. I have no doubt that covering me...

Re: Nanoxia Deep Silence 5 Review
Not much interest in this one I know, but the Nanoxia Deep Silence 5 turned out to be a really nice case. A few quirks like any case, but it was very easy to do neat cable routing and no major issues of any kind during assembly. The only minor issue I had were that some of the motherboard standoff s...

Re: Thermaltake Suppressor F51
To prevent going too much on a tangent, I'll just stop here and say that I'd still very much like to see a comparison of F51 vs R5 vs Define S - F51 as it is definitely improves on certain aspects of FD Define R5/S and I would personally be interested to see if these improvements justify the $120 p...

Re: MSI N570GTX Twin Frozr II OC - quietest GTX570?
That's pretty good - anything around 25-27db under load is not bad at all The 570 should be more similar to the 580 than to the 560, so I think if in case 28-29dB should be more probable than a 25dB mark. Afterburner may help to game a bit more quietly, but take also note than currently most of 570...

Re: Advice on these quieter than stock 580 and 6970 cards pl
The Asus card is very nice, but for those looking for a silentPC, I would still consider the Twin Frozr, given what sizza said regarding a BIOS fix that allows for an even quieter setting. The Asus card is not loud, but it is far louder than the other 4 fans in my otherwise relatively silent system....

Re: Advice on these quieter than stock 580 and 6970 cards pl
So far, not a single crash in 4 days. I also increased my memory back to XMP speeds (1600C8) a few days ago and I'm running the fan set at manual minimum (1100 RPM) regardless of load. At that fan speed, it is somewhat louder than the minimum fan speed of the Frozr. It's certainly not silent, but th...

Re: Advice on these quieter than stock 580 and 6970 cards pl
The DirectCU is in. Some quick comparisons- DirectCU is bigger, not only triple slot, but longer too. It barely fits in my Lian Li PC-B25S. DirectCU gives the impression of being better made, subjective, of course. DirectCU seems to run a bit cooler at the same load. DirectCU factory GPU overclock i...

Re: Advice on these quieter than stock 580 and 6970 cards pl
boe- did you happen to note any errors when your frozr crashed? Mine worked fine for days, but recently I've been having crashes that are more and more frequent. I thought they were memory related based on the error I received from Warcraft, but the windows event viewer gives this warning each time ...

Re: Advice on these quieter than stock 580 and 6970 cards pl
I just put an MSI GTX580 Twin Frozr OC in my new system. I previously had an EVGA 580 and an Asus 6970. I was having some freezing issues that I now believe are memory related, rather than graphics related, prompting me to swap the EVGA for the 6970. Anyway, the MSI card has worked fine for the week...

I've been using the Artic Fan 12 PWM for almost 4 months now without any issues. I replaced the Antec Tri-Cool exhaust fan in my Solo case with it and used the 4-pin SYS_FAN connector on my Gigabyte GA-965P-DQ6 . It throttles up and down nicely along with the CPU fan on the CPU connector. I can't co...

I've been using a Arctic 12 PWM case fan for about 6 weeks. It's a bit quiter at idle than the "Low" setting on the Antec Tri-Cool fan that came with my case. Idle is usually between 600-700 RPM according to EasyTune5. Under a good load I've seen it speed up to over 1200RPM. At that load, it seems s...

I've had the 120mm version of the Arctic PWM fan for about 6 weeks or so. No problems so far.
viewtopic.php?t=37768 . Seems like a nice fan for the money, especially if your motherboard has a PWM case fan controller or you can piggyback on the CPU controller.

Since no one here had an answer, the only way was to try it. I replaced the Tri-cool with a Arctic Fan 12 PWM. Hooked up the 4-pin connector to the 4-pin SYS_FAN connector on the motherboard. Works perfectly with RPM control from the BIOS. It's much quieter at idle (spins around 600RPM) than the Tri...

Page 44 of the manual says you can control both 3-pin and 4-pin PWM fans, the BIOS should autodetect which fan type is used. You might want to ditch the Tricool and go for a 3-pin Nexus. That section of the manual is talking about CPU fans specifically. Have you tried a PWM fan on the 4-pin SYS_FAN...

It seems my motherboard has both a 3-pin (PWR_FAN) and a 4-pin (SYS_FAN) connector. From what I gather, the 4-pin one has a control signal for adjusting fan output, perhaps a PWM signal like the CPU fan has. I'm guessing that this is not compatible with a 3-pin to 4-pin adapter that goes from the Mo...

Newbie Fan Control Question - Antec Solo and Gigabyte 965P
I'm not looking for anything elaborate, but it would be nice to have the speed of the Tri-cool case fan of my Antec Solo be controlled by the system rather than just by the 3-setting switch that is attached. Unfortunately, the Antec Tri-Cool fan has a standard peripheral 4-pin power connector, rathe...

Thanks for the input- It's not a gaming system, but gaming will be the most intensive use as far as power, heat and noise go. I don't need Vista, but if I'm buying a new system now I'd rather go with the latest O/S. I am considering the BadAxe2 as well, just not sure it has anything I want to justif...
