maybe you can wait a while: Anandtech's "AMD 690G: Performance Review" http://www.anandtech.com/cpuchipsets/showdoc.aspx?i=2942 seems to have lower power consumption than competing boards based upon nVidia's chipsets.... and we all know lower power consumption leads to easier quiet/silent systems :)

Considering how old a cooler Big Typhoon is, it's really a shame for ThermalTake it took so long for it to be reviewed here at SPCR. It probably would have done miracles for TTs reputation, had it been reviewed here back in 2005 when it was released. Not to mention, it would have been a real conten...

I find it much eaiser to achieve CONSISTENTLY QUIET operation in a non-laptop build. By this I mean I can build a system with a big enough heatsink, and good ducting, and fans on constant low RPM. I build my systems such that at FULL LOAD on CPU, GPU, and disk they are adequately cooled without inc...

z2300 are way better than the x230, there's simply no comparison there are tons of multimedia speakers out there, but these logitechs are easy to find and give zero headaches don't tread into audiophile products like me, they kill your wallet and raise your expectations so now i can't stand listenin...

the iCages gave the case the ability to hold 3.5" drives inside 5.25" bays, though it's not well designed in terms of noise (cooling wise it's unbeatable) because of the way it slides into the thermaltake armor and resonates :x i could toss the iCages and attempt to suspend 7 drives, but i'll need y...

student: yea that's what i had in mind, but i wanted some numbers to work with (i'm sure a lot of testing was done to design the panels for the P180, to choose what materials were best) ultrachrome: space is not an issue and i'm not going to move this computer around with the cabinet, this whole tow...

PLAN: Build a Wooden Cabinet to house my NOISY 7 drive tower
here is the link to my current computer specs: http://www.silentpcreview.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=37748 the noise is coming from the PSU (fan bearing must be dying) and hard drives (7 of them together makes the case hum!! ) my plan? to build a wooden cabinet to shove this entire tower inside...

if that's the case, perhaps you need a larger power supply either that or get drives that support staggered spinup (since that's where you're having troubles) my 485W noisetaker is enough for my 7 drive system, though if i overclock the CPU it'll have trouble on bootup (i'd have to turn it on, wait ...

I absolutely hate Thermaltake cases. I am glad I sold my Tsunami. That thing vibrates like no tomorrow. Cheaply made as well. Nice speakers btw. loudest thing in my Tsunami is definitely my Zalman 9500 running at 60% speed, I don't have any problems with vibration. Right now, sitting 1.5 feet away ...

thermaltake's armor should fit your needs Quite expensive considering features. (seems to be ~2/3 more expensive than Stacker) Also Stacker's rear 120mm fan grills can be easily replaced with standard less restricting ones. hmmmm prices i found: original stacker = $163 new stacker = $269 black armo...

nzimmers: The noise is from the spindle noise of the drives at idle. During seeking and reading it's worse/louder, but I can live with it because it's not constantly doing that. Drives are mounted standardly, without grommets or absorbing materials. The Thermaltake iCage slides into the 5.25" bays a...
