maybe you can wait a while: Anandtech's "AMD 690G: Performance Review" http://www.anandtech.com/cpuchipsets/showdoc.aspx?i=2942 seems to have lower power consumption than competing boards based upon nVidia's chipsets.... and we all know lower power consumption leads to easier quiet/silent systems :)

i have the iCage

it makes 3x 5.25" bays into 3x 3.5" bays

it keeps the drives nice and cool at around 30°C (load or not)

but it's noisy (even after changing the TT fans to coolermaster sleeve @ 7v)

the Klipsch ProMedia GMX A-2.1 i'd say are a step above the Logitechs

iFi would be the ultimate multimedia speakers

no audiophile uses dual 18" subs, though i must say that would be HUGE

Considering how old a cooler Big Typhoon is, it's really a shame for ThermalTake it took so long for it to be reviewed here at SPCR. It probably would have done miracles for TTs reputation, had it been reviewed here back in 2005 when it was released. Not to mention, it would have been a real conten...

I find it much eaiser to achieve CONSISTENTLY QUIET operation in a non-laptop build. By this I mean I can build a system with a big enough heatsink, and good ducting, and fans on constant low RPM. I build my systems such that at FULL LOAD on CPU, GPU, and disk they are adequately cooled without inc...

the iCages gave the case the ability to hold 3.5" drives inside 5.25" bays, though it's not well designed in terms of noise (cooling wise it's unbeatable) because of the way it slides into the thermaltake armor and resonates :x i could toss the iCages and attempt to suspend 7 drives, but i'll need y...

thermaltake's armor should fit your needs Quite expensive considering features. (seems to be ~2/3 more expensive than Stacker) Also Stacker's rear 120mm fan grills can be easily replaced with standard less restricting ones. hmmmm prices i found: original stacker = $163 new stacker = $269 black armo...

nzimmers: The noise is from the spindle noise of the drives at idle. During seeking and reading it's worse/louder, but I can live with it because it's not constantly doing that. Drives are mounted standardly, without grommets or absorbing materials. The Thermaltake iCage slides into the 5.25" bays a...
