Yugen, thanks for the links/info, I'll look into possibly locating parts here in Canada or shipping here. Hammer, good points. My setup is already quiet, but my temps are kinda high.....my case location isn't ideal (but I'm stuck with it) and it gets too warm for my liking. So I'd like to maintain t...

Pre-built vs DIY for Newbie

I know DIY is always better, but I'm a liquid newbie and am a bit intimidated by DIY.....though I am willing to try. So I'm looking for some expert suggestions. Relevant Specs: -C2D 6300 OC'd to 3.2ghz currently -Antec P180 -4 hard drives in lower cage, Noctua case fans, very quiet setup -8800GTS Re...

I've been toying getting one of these, but putting a Noctua 120mm @1200 rpm on it. Shouldn't have too much airflow impedence, would it?? Better cooling than my Zalman 9500 I would imagine, and darn quiet with a Noctua on it. Only thing is I hope they can/do rotate 90 degrees on the CPU mount, so the...

Well, my temps are *somewhat* misleading......because my case is not far from the furnace vent. When I open the balcony door my temps drop alot. So I suspect when the winter weather is gone and the furnace goes off, my temps should be better. Currently my temps are about 50C idle and 58/59C load in ...

Replace my modded Zalman 9500?

Am wondering if it's "worth it" to replace my modded Zalman 9500: I've swapped out the stock 92mm fan and put in an Antec Tri-Cool 92mm, connected to my fan controller. It's quieter, but I'm not sure if the temps are the greatest to be honest. System specs: -C2D 6300 OC'd to 3.2ghz -Gigabyte DS3 -Th...

Well, I already have the Zalman 9500 installed. At low speeds it's great, but when I crank it up it's the loudest thing in my case! So I'm gonna try reseating it tomorrow and watch the temps.....with my CPU highly overclocked I want to keep it cool but I can't have the Zalman at top speed. I have it...

Awsome info and advice there, much appreciated. I was leaning towards the Noctua. I'll also look at implementing some of your other ideas, it'll take a bit of time, since I want to do this right. I have silicone pads on the feet for the case on the floor and have isolated my hard drives in the botto...

Ah....the ever elusive definition of "best". Good point ;) Assume money's not a concern and aesthetics aren't a concern. Keeping my OC'd system cool is a paramount concern, and balancing that with "acceptable" * noise levels is a significant goal of mine. So that would mean the quieter fan that will...

Aftermarket case fans for Antec P180 needed?

Love my new Antec P180, but am looking to quiet the fans a bit. I have a fan controller, but I have 2 questions. I should mention that I have my 6300 OC'd to 3.0 ghz, with a Zalman 9500 and a Seasonic Energy Plus 650w.....so I need something that will give good airflow but won't sound like a jet eng...
