The Corsair 620HX should be quieter since it uses a 120mm fan to cool itself whereas the Neopower 650 only uses a 80mm fan.

Is this PSU really that low quality? ?
Their relatively newer products are somewhat decent but their older PSUs are not that good. IMO, it is a low quality PSU.

The PSU is not that good IMO. Has a -5V meaning that its based on older ATX specs. In addition, the manufacturer is Topower whose older PSUs, like those based on older ATX specs, tend to be of very low quality. In addition, it only has 27A on the +12V rail, pretty low for a 450W PSU considering the ...

Still can't answer your last two questions but I want to clear up the RAM issue. You do not need highly overclockable RAM with the E2180. Intel C2D systems do not benefit from having faster RAM or having the FSB and RAM ratio at anything other than a 1:1 ratio. Some math: Stated FSB/4 = Actual FSB M...

Drop the Ballstix RAM and go with any cheap set of DDR2 800 RAM. Don't know how it is in Norway but here in the U.S, the Ballistix RAM is a good $20 to $30 more than other DDR2 800 RAM but only offers the ability to overclock and lower latency. Since it doesn't look like you're overclocking and you ...

If overclocking is not an option, go for the AMD build. But you chose the Black Edition which does not come with a HSF. So you will have to buy a 3rd party HSF in order to use that Black Edition X2 5000+. Also, any savings in energy usage from the C2D CPU will be negated by the video card. It may be...

Actually, the P182 is a bit more difficult to work with than the Solo due to it's chamber design and positioning of the PSU. In addition it doesn't have the ability to suspend the drives. But for $87 AR, it's not a bad price. When it comes down it, cases are a personal preference item. Just go with ...

This Intel mATX mobo is pretty popular among overclockers:

The biggest advantage of an mATX mobo is that you can use smaller cases that use less space.

You don't need the low-profile Yate Loons for the spots you want. A normal size Yate Loon is fine for all of the numbered positions except for 3. Only in spot 3 will you need the low profile Yate Loon.

My P180 with four of those 1350RPM Yate Loons is somewhat loud. However, the noise from the case is usually drowned out the giant AC in my computer lab or by playing music files. I don't mind the noise since I use to have a P4 system with five 80mm fans. Compared to that system, the P180 with four o...

It also depends on what kind of fans, hard drives, HSF, and GPU you're using. The case isn't the only thing that makes a PC silent.

I got worse temps with the duct tape mod. I have a Corsair HX520 with a Yate Loon running at full speed in front the PSU. There's only two drives there. Without the mod, HDD temps were around 37C to 41C. With the mod, HDD temps were around 39C to 43C.

So the duct tape doesn't work for me either.

Re: Getting new computer, need advice

Case: I have the original P180 and from my experience, no need to fit it with additional noise dampening mats. The case does a good job of dampening the noise. As for the case fans, the Antec TriCool Fans are low noise. But I replaced them with Yate Loons because I wanted better cooling. The TriCoo...
