I have the Rev B....E6600 overclocked to 2.7 Ghz (mild overclock..lol) and my temps on on full load is 47 degrees Celsius using Orthos... (I actually ran this for 27 hours non-stop and my temps stayed at 47 :D ) And thats in purely passive mode... no fan on the ninja. I have the P5B Deluxe wifi ed. ...

I would check that the heatsink is properly seated first on the Motherboard. with the 775 socket set, you have to make sure the pins are pushed in properly.

My temperatures are displaying much lower then before however I was using the Asus AI Suite to read my temps.

I know there is a thread somewhere on understanding how to read your core temp..

So should I use this to base my CPU temps on?

I also have a raptor (74 GB) in a P180 in the lower chamber ...the seek noises are audible but I am able to live with it. I actually like to hear when my hard drive is doing something..

The noise isn't annoying at all however noise is very subjective as many would attest to.

You can mount the fan on any side of the heat sink...

as you see in that image...there are notches to clip it on on all sides.
as for the retention bracket...I wouldnt know..I never used an AMD before.

I have the ASUS p5B-deluxe wifi edition plue the Ninja Scythe (rev b) e6600 @ 2.4 Ghz (no over clock) I had no problems installing the heatsink with the motherboard still attached to my case. I am running this heatsink in passive mode so no fan is attached. My temps under full load is around 60 degr...

I have the ASUS P5B-Deluxe Wifi and the Scythe Ninja (fanless)

i was also getting the CPU fan error..to disable it go into the BIOS and under CPU fan RPM Monitor...select "ignore"

That did the trick for me! :D

Actually, my Intel Heatsink was noisy even at idle. When it heated up, it was much worse hence my reason for a upgrade. I am most certain you can get a batter value for your money.

I would go with Seasonic. Very very quiet. Their newest ones (M-Series) are modular which is an asset to get rid of unwanted cables.
