Hey Continuum ;) Funny who you bump in to on different boards.

FWIW, E6600 @ 3.2 (400x8) running at 1.26V reported via speedfan (not bios) idling at 31/32c (core0/core1) via MBM5 with core2duo plugin on an Ultra 120.

Case is a P180 with Scythe S-FLEX D on the exhausts and an E on the cooler.

My sig has my build in it with suggested order and reasoning. I used duck tape on the interior of the case to cover the cheese grater holes alongside the PCI slots and in the fan compartment. My case is otherwise unmodified.

Just to note the Sunbeam isnt the only non PWM controller - the zalman is DC too, for example. QuietPC.com is good for UK delivery, I've had my S-Flex's from there, and they're pretty helpful via email.

Seems hot. My system is 31 degrees idle. I'd note that sometimes my board (P5B-Deluxe) fails to boot first time and the bios then cheerfully decides to up the voltage. If Im not careful it'll take it up to 1.56v or higher ('auto' in the bios) and the CPU is even then running at 45degrees idle, not 6...

What are you using to cut the case? Just a dremel? Looks really nicely done, is it as even underneath the covers or is that just an artifact of the automotive grip you used? I managed to fit my sata power cables through without cutting the case at the bottom... wasnt quite as pretty looking as your ...

Overclocked E6600@3.2ghz in a P180B with an 8800GTX. CPU idling at 33, Case at 46, Drives at 38 and 41, GPU at 72!! browsing SPCR. This is with a 1200RPM S-FLEX on CPU, 800 RPM S-FLEX on exhaust and 800RPM S-FLEX in the drive/PSU corridor. I have (disabled via fan controller) an 800RPM S-FLEX on the...

The 8800 is *by far* the noisiest thing in the case. Maybe the GTS is quieter ;(

Antec PSU's seem to be suffering a serious Quality control problem recently, going by the reports from mass system builders on ArsTechnica recently.

I'd avoid, and go with the Seasonic. you might want to look at a slightly overspecced PSU if modular cabling floats your boat, I guess.

2 Bay high Kama-Alike?

I have a P180 with a Zalman MFC-1 and a DVD writer in it. I'm considering partitioning the middle of the case and running the top and rear exhausts and the CPU fan to cool the top 'cpu' compartment, then running an intake from the middle hard drive bay over the 8800GTX to vent out of the PCI slots w...

Wonder how well it would work with a 120mm fan cable tied to the PCI backplates and a home made duct. Think the plates would block the airflow too much?

I use MBM5 with the nvidia, core2duo and history graphing plugins.

Sadly I cant see any way to set fan divisors on MBM so its useless for fan speed monitoring if you have low speed fans, but it works well for the temp monitoring.

I'm using the S-FLEX's, but I have little to compare them to other than the Antec Tri-Cools. They are definitely quiet, but I wouldn't go as far as to say silent, not even the 800rpm ones. The noise they give off is very constant though, which is good - more the noise of moving airflow than anything...
