not sure if this was already mentioned... what about having one super quiet drive in the PC, and put the large drives in a NAS in another room. Connect via wired gigabit. plus, you could put additional drives in it as you need them without worry about additional noise I'm not sure how it would effec...

oh shoot, sorry about the list not showing up and completely missing the 5.25" requirement.
Here's the only one on that list that I found. it's tough finding these in this size. any other links would help me out too

Rosewill RX-358-S SLV (Sliver) 3.5" USB & eSATA Ext. Enclosure w/Int.80mm fan
and here are all the ones i considered. they're not all eSATA/USB with internal SATA, but it's a short list

Thanks for the replies i fired ahead and got 3 of those scythe fans, and that ds3r motherboard aswell as a few sata cables just in case. if those 1200RPM fans are still too loud, you can also try 800RPM. the slower speed allows less noise (and less airflow... lower CFM) Noctua NF-S12-800 120mm Fan ...

photo apps like photoshop use lots of memory. buy as much as you are comfortable with, but get at least 2GB. You can get top quality 4GB (4x1GB sticks) for around $100 or 4GB (2x2GB kits) for around $140. the later option allows you upgrade to 8GB down the road :) faster HDD is better too, but 10k R...

How many and what type fans? Scythe S-FLEX SFF21E 120mm Case Fans like these . your case can hold 5 120mm, but i don't think you need that many. i think the case comes with 3. not sure how many to tell you to get. if money doesn't matter, then get 5 and only use however many you think you need afte...

I was about to commit to a similar system 182se but after seeing the Antec 900 I am pondering if it might suit me better even though it is a gamer case and I could care less about case windows and games. So what's with the thick fan and where do you plan to use all your fans ? the p180 supposedly c...

why not just set up three PCs? Put together a cool, budget-centric HTPC, build a nice gaming machine, and when Home Server becomes available, make one then. Hmmm I wonder if I can pull that off for the same budget?? you got me thinking! I do have an old rig that I could retire to the media server (...

Need a Watercooling Recommendation
I'm new to overclocking and cooling, but i've reading like its my job. Can anyone recommend a system, or tell me if air cooling will suffice? Here's the detail I guess you would need: A) Q6600 with 24/7 overclock ~3-3.3GHz B) 2-4 HDDs C) 1 vid card.. 2600XT or 8800GTS (along those lines) D) Ambients...

Scythe Quiet Drives & Raptors
Any idea if running two raptors in Scythe Quiet Drives would be any louder than running four 7200RPM drives. On the 7200RPM side I'm mostly curious in the 500GB from seagate (eg the 7200.11 with 250GB platters), WD and Samsung. Is it too close to call? How much quieter/louder are we talking about? a...
